Replacement battery for Garage Door Opener Model 3840
I have a Model 3840 and couldn't find the matching battery - this one works just fine!! I purchased and replaced my original Liftmaster DJW12-4.5 battery in a Liftmaster Model 3840 garage door opener with this battery. It works great! No more beeping! My first battery died after 4 years and I did the typical girl thing - freak out and call a professional garage door person. $250 later, I had a new battery installed. Fortunately, I watched the pro install the new battery. And it lasted 4 months past its 2-year warranty. I resolved to not spend another $250 to fix it this time. So I purchased this replacement per the review by OnTheWater; referred to the manual for the garage door opener (which can be found online if you don't have the actual paper booklet), and replaced it in 15 minutes, most of which time was spent looking for the right sized phillips-head screwdriver and trying to figure out how to get the battery out of the housing. Yeah, the mailing package for this battery stinks...the flimsy cardboard box looked like it burst open somewhere in USPS transit and someone was thoughtful enough to tape it back together. There are a handful of packing peanuts to keep it from getting scratched or cracked. Do not bother to pay extra for the expedited shipping. I did and the package still arrived 4 days after placing the order, which seems to be the norm for regular shipping. Here's the steps to replace your battery:Unplug your Liftmaster Garage Door Opener from the power source (make sure you have alternate lighting or you will be standing in the dark);Pull open the Light Bulb cover on the side that the battery is housed;Use phillips screwdriver to open the battery cover and remove the cover;Use a piece of packing tape or duct tape wrapped around your fingers, sticky side out, to 'grab' the flat surface of the battery and pull it out of the housing;Unplug the wires from the dead battery; put old battery aside on the floor;Remove the plastic terminal protector from the new battery;Hook up the new battery (the terminals are shaped to only fit one way);Shove the new battery, wire-side in, into the housing well;Replace the battery cover and screw back into place;Replace the light-bulb cover;Plug the power cord back in to the outlet. That's it. Hope it helps you save some money and DIY.

Perfect replacement for Lift master 3850
We ordered this battery on a Monday and I arrived on Thursday. I had concerns that it may not be an exact match for our lift master model# 3850. This was the first time we had to replace the battery. When the beeping started, my first impulse was to call the company that installed the opener. I looked up how to replace the battery on YouTube, and it didn't look hard. I was happy that I ordered this product. It fit perfectly in the battery compartment, and the battery alarm ceased. This battery was significantly less than the Lift master brand. I am perfectly satisfied with this purchase. It was a great deal. I also was glad at the cost savings to be able to do this yourself. Just a note - have your owner's manual handy. After unplugging the opener and replacing the battery, I was surprised to find that I had to re-program the settings (travel limits - pg.23, force - pg,25 and safety reversal - pg.26) I also had to reprogram the remotes. Don't be like me, and see on the wall mounted opener that the new battery was charging, and pull your car back in the garage. The door would now only travel half way up before reprogramming, and I had to stand on the passenger side of the SUV with the door open to adjust all the settings!) I am saving the order number so that I can order this same battery when this happens in another 3-5 years. Great battery at a significant savings.

So far so good
Although I cannot rate the longevity, I am giving it 5 stars. It fits and works. Price was about half of the OEM brand.

Works great
I had to replace my original garage door opener battery and decided to go with an aftermarket battery. I've had this installed for a few months now, and works perfectly.

It works but looks used
As many have noted, the packaging used by this seller is "minimalistic". It came in a brown card-board box without any bubble wrap or paper to protect the battery. The battery itself did not appear new as it had scuff makes & seemed to be "beat up" for a new battery. Also, the battery plastic top was also loose and came off exposing the inner core of the battery. I taped it back on before installing as the plastic top did not appear to affect functionality or I could have just left it off. The battery is the same size as the Liftmaster original but the positive & negative poles are bit smaller than original. However, this did not affect installation. The battery installed effortlessly & after 24 hours was fully charged. So despite the fact that the packaging is bad; the plastic top was falling off; and the poles are not the same size, the battery appears to work fine. The only real test for this product will be the test of time & how long the battery lasts. I got about 2 years on the OEM Liftmaster battery, so we will see how long this one lasts. All I can do is wait & report back if it fails prematurely. So far so good.Update 1/13/2015 - it is still working! No issues & would buy again once it wears out.Update 12/9/2016 - One of them finally went bad again so I got 3 years out of it. I ordered them again and this time the packaging was much better and batteries looked new. Would buy again but wish they lasted longer.
