FAKRO860205 Extra Step for LST Steel Scissor Ladders

We needed one additional step for our FAKRO attic ladder system due to the ceiling height of the room. It took about 10 minutes to install the extra step. Now the attic ladder is perfect.

The picture is a bit misleading, but it all makes sense when this extra step arrives. You don't just add it to the bottom of your steps, you remove the current bottom step and then connect four bolts to reattach it. Not a big deal, but it does take just a little longer than you might expect. Using your existing steps you can determine the alignment of this extra step and then tighten the four bolts. Two extra bolts and nuts are included with this step. My existing step angle wasn't terrible, but adding this really "leveled" the steps and made them easier to navigate.

If your floor to ceiling height is beyond their maximum, you can add a couple of these additional stairs to get to the floor.They're super simple to install, only take a couple minutes, and look exactly like the normal steps (you couldn't tell the that they'd been added unless someone told you). A bit pricey, but hey, the ladder isn't cheap either, so what do you expect? I give them props for actually realizing everyone doesn't have exactly the same ceiling height, and designing a solution other than screwing on wood to the bottom the legs or cutting them smaller. :)

This is a great ladder. It took a few passes to get it delivered by Amazon without damage but we just installed it and the ladder is super. My contractor has installed many ladders like this and he was very impressed too. Highly recommend.

I really love everything about this except that I think it is too narrow. Hard to carry boxes back down the steps.I almost fell.

The narrow ladder steps and the wide ladder steps are the same size. So even tho the opening is larger the steps are still very narrow making it difficult to go up to and down from the attic. I would never buy the product again.
