Absolutely love this kit; Ideal for travel sketching or sketching on the go with tools that can serve functionally as dry or wet mediums.Supplement this variety kit with other select watercolour pencils of your choice for a vibrant and diverse palette.These are fun to experiment with, and my personal favourite items are the Inktense pencils and pigment bars, which are much more fluid and heavily pigmented than the Watercolour pencils. The darker Watercolour pencils seem to have more overall pigment, but the light blue included in this kit is excellent to use instead of a pure white as a highlighter or on black or sepia tone paper.The tin can be re-used, although be aware the tin is not hinged and the lid can be removed entirely to rest underneath while working; Some people prefer this as it can lay totally flat and is more overall compact, but personally I prefer hinged tins so I can't lose the lid, and so that it is more likely to stay closed while jostling around in my backpack.The tin is sturdy though, and doesn't warp or bend easily, making it safe to throw in your bag. The lid does seem more secure than most non-hinged tins, so it's definitely nice either way and a matter of personal preference.Personal rating: 10/10, one of the better sample/variety pack sets out there, all of the items included are excellent and it is a matter of personal taste which you will enjoy the most; This can be used to supplement other tools, or can be used as a compact selective palette. Great for both wet and dry sketching.

Great set, value for money. Absolutely love the colour block. The inktense range has beautiful vibrant colours that art a please to work with, colours burst to life when wet and become permanent , another bonus is you can even draw on fabric😍😍😍. My favourite brand and range of pencils out there, would also advise to invest in the outliner, which works like a pencil without washing out when water is added.

Cannot recommend this set enough. Really wanted to try the inktense blocks before paying out a large amount of money, and this set is totally worth the money. The contents are extremely high quality, and thanks to this set, I will be buying the full set! All of the pictures were made just using this set!

Loved the product but was far to small but inspired me to buy a large set

The description of this product says that there are 12 pieces and a complementary brush, but actually the brush is part of those 12 pieces. It bothered me enough to take two stars from it.The colors offered are a very nice combination and I loved that I could try different kind of watercolor pencils.

Brand new, good quality. Very impressed. The only down fall is there are no instructions but soon remedied by purchasing a "How to" manual from Amazon.

Bought for a friend's birthday, they really liked it :)

I bought the 12 piece set, and everything in the set was as listed, no missing pieces or switched pieces.This is exactly what I wanted, a small sample kit of derwent watercolour pencils, inktense pencils and inktense blocks.The watercolour pencils are of average quality, not bad for its price.The inktense pencils are just lovely! They are soft, easy to use, with vibrant colours!The inktense blocks are fun to use, the colour selection is adequate for sketches.Now the downside.I made test paintings with both inktense blocks and inktense pencils, after drying over night, the paint can still be easily lifted for both, so it’s NOT “permanent after it’s dry” as claimed. My paintings were on two different kind of watercolour papers, I’m not sure if it would be different if used on fabrics.This is not a big deal for me as I enjoy using them as watercolours, and knowing that the inktense pencils would work just like watercolour pencils actually makes me want to purchase them more.I noticed a 60% price increase of this item since I purchased my set, at the higher price it’s no longer an economical sample kit that would help people get into trying derwent products which is quite sad, but if anyone is interested, I can say without any doubt that getting a nice set of inktense pencils will be a delightful purchase.
