Great for those new to FL.
This is a great book for newbies to FL. It gives great directions to numerous hotspots. I have been to FL enough times that I am already familiar with all these great hotspots. I wish I had this book back when I first started birding there. So for a newbie it rates a 5.

A Must for Wildlife Photographers/Videographers and Birders
Florida Birding: A Guide to the Best Birding Locations In the Sunshine State Florida Birding: A Guide to the Best Birding Locations In the Sunshine StateWhat a great resource if you are serious about photographing, videographing and/or just plain viewing an almost endless variety of birds and other wildlife indigenous to oh so tropical Florida. The book is well laid out with pertinent "must know" information. It contains pictures, and most importantly detailed information including maps, location information, and a host of other needed information on 19 of the best locations in Florida to see Birds in the wild as well as other wildlife. I have viewed many of the videos produced by the Author, Mark Smith, and his photography and demeanor are very conducive to learning while having fun.I would highly recommend this book .if you want to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of birds in Florida. As a resident of Florida, I had no idea many of the locations in this book even existed.

Great Guide and Reference for Florida Birding
I first discovered Mark Smith on You Tube and found his video informative and accurate because I live in Florida and often photograph birds at these often hidden from most of us birding sites. Some are literally a few feet off the interstates, free and full of birds and wildlife. If you are a photographer and travel in or through Florida, Mark's book is a great reference tool with all the information you need to visit one of the sites. The book is extremely well done. I very much appreciate that he has published this easy to read beautiful book and highly recommend it to anyone that spots or photographs birds.Congratulations to Mark on his good work. Go see Mark on You Tube. He shoots a lot and knows where the birds are!

I got excited for nothing. A waste of money.
This book is the size of a National Geographic but with far less pages. It has some generic, common sense overviews of birding. When it finally gets into the birding locations you'll see a simple formula for each location: two barely used pages per location. One page consists of the location's location on a florida map which is useless because there's already a florida map with all the locations. Also there's a simple drawn pathway map with arrow directions (finally something useful) and some empty space for you to write down notes as if you're going to stuff this magazine sized "book" into your pocket while you're birding. The other per location page has a box with information like hours of operation, bathrooms, price of entry (which is usually in the form of "just call the place and find out yourself). Also the box gives you addresses and other things that you can find out in minutes of internet research. The rest of the page the author beats around the bush as to why the location is good. My favorite is the Shark Alley/everglades: the author offers no specifics as to why it's a place worth birding except he says some spots are "great." Failed pitch. I got excited for nothing. However the good thing the author does is he tells you which seasons are good or bad for each location and for some locations he tells you a few birds you might see. I appreciate that he disclosed a tiny tiny bit of worthy insight but because I payed $15 for this "book," I expected more, way more. I say cut out the BS and shrink it to a $1 five page pamphlet.

I live in Florida was excited about this book as I and my husband love to photograph birds
I found out about this book by watching Mark's videos on YouTube. I live in Florida was excited about this book as I and my husband love to photograph birds. I was familiar with some of the places in the book but can't wait to explore all the other places named in this book. It is very well written and includes addresses and some maps. You will not be disappointed.

Florida Birders and Photographer's Must Have
Having lived in Florida since 1988, I'm thrilled to have Mark Smith's most comprehensive book on the many locations of birding sites, rookeries and bird identifications in the Sunshine state! Whether you're a wildlife photographer, birdwatcher or nature enthusiast you should have this reference book on hand at home as well as in the field. Mark's stunning photographs make it all the more worthwhile!

A practical reference guide
I will make good use of this guide. It is well laid out for trip planning, informative, and provides practical information for birders and those interested in bird photography, listing the best months for viewing, spots for viewing within locations, availability of washrooms, etc. It is well worth the practical price, as well. Those new to the birding world will find it particularly helpful, as it saves time looking up things on websites. It would be informative for general “people” Snowbirds who migrate to Florida during the winter months, especially the East coast, for short excursions while there, even those not now interested in birding— this book may hook you into a new hobby! Thanks, Mark, for putting this together!
