Very Good Girls

In reading the description, it's easy to dismiss this movie as another teen drama, but seeing the lead actresses I thought I'd give them a shot since they have done well in previous films they've been in. I'm glad I did. The direction of this film is mature but true to the complexities and decisions of girls of that age. I can understand how viewers who were never in that position may dismiss it and score it lower, but for anyone that's gone through similar things (meaning the complexities of friendship, first love, and instability in those years) can vouch that the characters did justice to the theme and that the director did well in using different devices to add depth and levels to it. Fanning didn't have a lot of dialogue but she didn't need to in order to portray a very realistic and multifaceted character.

Entertaining for a movie I wasn't expecting too much out of. I've been a fan of Dakota Fanning since she started appearing in movies but hadn't heard of this one until I was just "searching" Prime. Thought I'd give it a try since nothing else seemed worth watching on TV. Didn't require too much thinking-just a decent movie. Definitely a movie that shows how friendships/feelings can be affected when boys become involved.

Sick and tired of seeing girls and women longing for a shallow encounter with an emotionally unavailable man that only harms their friendships and family relationships. Pointless replay of patriarchal and overdone themes. Two stars go to Dakota Fanning for her excellent acting despite a poorly written screenplay with nothing new to offer.

Dakota Fanning shines in this young adult coming-of-age film with Elizabeth Olsen. The script is a problem. No character (other than Dakota's) is well developed, and there are crucial scenes missing that might have helped explain why characters were acting as they do. The viewer can tell, however, that the screenwriter and director have taken Screenwriting and Directing 101. Many not so important actions at the start (e.g., girls bouncing around in their underwear) are repeated at end, this time with a new significance. Dakota's assumptions about boys and relationships are forced to change, and we experience that change with her at end.

Some great depictions on the type of drama that older girls and younger women conjure up in their minds over a man juxtaposed with a real exhibition of a man in love. Generally the type of atonal coming of age drama common in the baby boomer years of upper middle-class teens excavating their sexual awakening in the late fifties and early sixties.

I liked this movie. In some ways it brought me back to my teens. Shows the strength of friendship. The reason I watched this to begin with is because I think Dakota Fanning is a good actress, and she was in this movie as well as others.

A sweet summer before college movie about friendship, crushes and a love triangle. I was pleasantly surprised that E Olsen was able to act as well as D Fanning. An amazing soundtrack by Jenny Lewis helped to tell this story. A very enjoyable movie.

Loved it!.. Finally a movie we both loved. Most movies these days are focused on violence, war, & etc.. (granted that is popular, for my husband, but not with the women, I know!) This movie was interesting, the characters were delightful and the story was captivating. Very Good Girls gets a "Very Good" from me!

This one was interesting. A bit slow but I love anything with Elizabeth Olsen in it. It is a good coming of age story
