The only guaranteed leak proof bike/fitness/sports bottle on the market. A Lexan mud cap keeps the drinking spout clean and the bottle neck is the same size as standard Nalgene wide mouth bottles so you can screw on water purifiers or use a standard Nalgene lid.

This is for adults
As an adult, I love this water bottle. The clip down cover makes all of the difference. It keeps mud and dirt out of the mouthpiece when I mountain bike. It keeps the lint/dirt out when I have it in my pack. When it is clipped down, it will not leak. Now, when it comes to kids, it is not a wise purchase. I have bought three for my children, and they have broken the lids on all of them. I had one bottle for 10+ years, and I never broke the cap. I let my 12 year old borrow it, broken in one day

Perfect for Toddlers
I needed a water bottle with an attached cap for my 3 year old when we go to the beach. I hunted around for a long time to find one, but all I could locate were bottles with an "open mouth" design (which would only result in my kid pouring his water all over himself or the ground); all the "sippy" bottles I found didn't have attached caps (so there'd be sand all over the mouthpiece five minutes after we park the car). This bottle though, is perfect. Yes, it's meant for bikes, not toddlers, but my toddler quickly learned to pull the whole mouthpiece up to get the water out, and the design of the mouthpiece means my kid will actually drink his water rather than spill it, the plastic is strong enough to stand up to his attempts to squeeze the water out, and the cap is attached (bonus - when the cap is closed the bottle is sealed and doesn't leak all over the place). If you need a bottle for your toddler or little kid that can travel in your bag without leaking, or for outdoor sports or vacations where dirt or sand will be an issue, this is absolutely the best best out there.

Not perfect but great size for a bike bottle cage and prevents mouthfuls of mud
I'm really happy with this little water bottle for short-distance mountain biking but it's not perfect. The way it's shaped means it fits perfectly into the bottle cage and is tightly secured. The lid cover keeps the mud off. The only thing is actually drinking out of it. I've had a few bottles and this is by no means the easiest to use in that regard. The nozzle design is the same one used since the 90's. You need to open the flow by pulling the hard plastic nozzle up with your teeth. CamelBak Podium Big Chill Insulated Water Bottle, 25 oz, Sprint Green has a far better design for actually drinking from. Still, the other features are enough to secure it's place as my current water workhorse.

Smells terrible, always!
What is up with bike water bottles being made of super garbage plastics??? When I pulled them out of the package they smelled horrible. When I washed them multiple times, they smelled the same. I thought technology would have improved after 25 years. That's how long ago I bought my other nasty smelling mountain bike water bottles. There has obviously been no improvement (except for the cap--that's kind of nice)

The best bottle for hiking
I have one like this that I bought more than 10 yr ago and it is still working well. However they are hard to find now. I bought mine from REI but they no longer carry this and even on Amazon, it takes some effort to find it. The most common type of bottles are those with a simple wide mouth cap. My problem with those is that if one accidentally drop it while drinking, all the water will be spilled, and this can spell disaster during hiking when you lose all your water in one accident. This bottle by contrast prevent such disaster from happening and it is easy to drink water bu one hand. Because the plastic it uses, it is naturally BPA-free.

Plastic flavored water
Water bottle may be BPA free. But, if you leave water in it for about 2 hours or more. You'll get a plastic taste as I did. Even when I originally purchased the same bottle close to 20 years ago. They need to change the material used in the bottle body. I will find a good water bottle body and update my review with a modified brand name of the replacement body. I love the lid and I found a bottle body that worked in the past and I'll find it again.

Lid Broke but I Still Like it
I bought 2 of these water bottles for my kids to use for school - 1st grade and 3rd grade. Like others have said, the cap broke off within the first month. After 4 months, my daughter dropped her bottle and the plastic spout shattered and water spilled all over the floor. I am going to replace it with the same bottle for the following reasons: I love the size of this bottle (not too big or too small), the bottle has a nice ergonomic feel when holding it, I like the small opening for kids to drink from, it's easy to clean (no issues with mold) and it never leaked. While this bottle cap needs improvement, I will stick with it for now.

Great for riding off road; the cover keeps the dirt off the spout.
I've tried using my road water bottles for off-road riding and it's amazing how much dirt ends up on the bottles, and in particular on the spout, even when the bottle is shielded by the down-tube on the bike. I don't enjoy gritty mouthfuls of Cytomax. So after reading some reviews of this bottle I decided to try one for off-road riding. It absolutely works as intended: the spout stays pretty clean, even on very dusty trails covered with fine powdery sand/dust.The cap isn't 100% airtight, so a small amount of dust may infiltrate, but in my experience the spout tends to stay clean-- at least the part where I put my lips-- so I've not had any gritty mouthfuls of Cytomax in a while.Too, the bottle is nalgene, so the bottom portion is squeezable. Finally, the mouth on this bottle is nice and wide, so I don't spill powdered drink mix when filling it, unlike bottles that I have from a different manufacturer. My only complaint: I wish the capacity was 700ml.

Great for artic environments, well designed
Excellent functional design for use in frozen environments. Many Nalgene bottles are impractical for use in extreme cold weather environments and have wide-mouth openings. First problem with these wide-mouth bottles is that you have to stop every time you want a drink and the second problem is that you risk spilling water down the front of you if you are not careful; get wet in extreme cold is not ideal. These bottles however can be used while walking and are easily operated with heavy gloves on to remove the outer cover (protects drinking surfaces from getting dirty if dropped onto muddy surface). Once cover is lifted, the lip on the drinking spout can be pulled to the open position with your teeth, precluding the need to touch drinking spout with filthy hands. I used (2) these Nalgene bottles on New Year's Day to trek up Ben Nevis and temperatures were extreme by the time I reached summit: -17F, winds of 50-70 MPH. One bottle was carried in a case on my rucksack waistband and the other strapped to outside of my rucksack and fully exposed to the environment. After about 4.5 hours, when I went to use bottle strapped to my rucksack it was maybe 30% frozen, but I still had drinkable water. By squeezing it, I was able to break the ice up and continue drinking on way down. Normal sports water bottles would have been frozen solid under these conditions and left me with no drinkable water. BTW, water tastes lovely from these bottles and lacks that crappy, plasticy taste that you get from many non-Nalgene bottles. Worth the premium you pay fro Nalgene.

Nice bottle, brittle lid hinge
I got this bottle for my road bike as in the variable British weather and country lanes there's quite a lot of muck which ends up on the nozzle, even with mudguards.First, the taste is good and a lot less plasticky than some other bottles. I've put it through the dishwasher (without the lid) and it seemed to clean up nicely. It is comfortable to hold and squeeze. The hard nozzle clicks positively in and out and closes when the clear domed cap is folded over. There's a bit of a knack to opening the cap one-handed, but it's not too bad. The cap certainly keeps the nozzle clean. The only downside is that the clear cap is made of quite brittle material and clumsy operation (while cycling) meant that it broke at the hinge.I still use the bottom without the lid, but it's a lot to pay for a bottle without the lid.

Excellent value
I had one of these bottles for years and used it practically every day. It never leaked or split baring in mind you have to squeeze the bottle to get the liquid out and it fits push bike cages or bottle holders. Excellent value and quality and cheaper than most well known makes.

Great little bottle
This is a great bottle for the price. I like how the lid is firmly attached to to the bottle itself, and how it closes tightly and securely over the nipple. However it is also very easy to open one handed. More importantly though is this bottle unlike many other cheap bottles doesn't impart that horrible chemical tate to the water that so often is the case with cheap bottles.
