Powerful book
Be sure to read Swan House first. I had read both books a number of years ago, with a long gap in between. This time I read one after the other. I'd totally forgotten The Dwelling Place. The impact was so much greater this time reading them together and remembering all the characters in The Swan House as I read The Dwelling Place. Great themes of forgiveness, family relationships, choosing to love, living with addiction and depression, and how memories of the same event differ between people.

I really really really like reading books written by Elizabeth Musser
I really really really like reading books written by Elizabeth Musser. She is good. Her books are good, the story is good, the details, plots, characters, all of it is good. I also really like how she weaves her faith into the story and into the characters without shoving it in the reader's face. However, that was not the case here. But I hate rating this book down for it because The Dwelling Place was about Ellie's spiritual journey. And parts of her conversion was handled beautifully. I am a little conflicted about that aspect. It is the sequel to The Swan House. I don't think anyone can argue that the Swan House is a better book. Mary Swan is a more empathetic main character then Ellie was.I do recommend reading the Swan House first.

The Dwelling Place - Kindle item
This is a great sequel to The Swan House - which you should read first. However, I would like to compare the print version with my Kindle version that I downloaded. The Kindle version is very sloppily typed/edited. Many of the sentences run together with no punctuation - extremely annoying. These run-together sentences are found throughout the Kindle edition. I also found that some of these sentences wouldn't make sense if you added punctuation. Most of the book is well written and edited, with the exception of these many sloppy parts. Not sure what happened, Kindle??

The Dwelling Place.
I loved this book. The details Ms. Musser shares put me right in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia. I could see the beautiful places and smell the flowers. Ms. Musser is not afraid to be real about her stories as far as tragedy and things not working out. I have read many sappy stories where everyone is happy and everything works out. I know this is fiction, but it lends itself to being believable. I really like the truth she writes in her fiction about how things really are. The racism, the bullying, the terrible things that were done to blacks in the south. Ms. Musser has become my favorite author in 2012. I can't put her books down. Bel Tucker

The Swan House story continues.
I enjoyed this book number 2 in the series immensely although Ellie's journey was not a pleasant tale and hard to identify with. The way the problems were resolved and reconciliation was found were very heart warming and satisfying. I sincerely hope there will be book number 3 in this series. I highly recommend this series.

Facinating book.
This story has so much depth. The first chapter I wondered if I was going to get into this book, but then found myself so engrossed with the story. This book will appeal to young and old, but particularly to anyone seeking the meaning of life.

Beeindruckend
