Color:Gray | Size:Quart TotalBoat TotalBilge premium bilge paint is ideal for those greasy, grimy, humid places on your boat exposed to the harshest conditions and the hardest wear, especially the bilge. This epoxy-based, high-performance alkyd resin marine paint is easy to apply by brushing, rolling, or spraying. It provides a long-lasting, rock-hard, glossy finish that's resistant to all the nasty things that can plague not only bilges, but engine rooms, bulkheads, chain lockers, lazarettes, and V-berth stowage areas. We're talking diesel fuel, engine oil, acids, antifreeze, grease, grime, heat, humidity, mildew, and solvents. TotalBilge's hard-wearing, abrasion-resistant finish provides excellent protection against the damage and staining that can occur when chemicals, oil and sludge get absorbed into wood or fiberglass. A clean, freshly painted bilge is not just for looks - there's also a practical side. A clean bilge lets you see problems such as leaking fuel and oil, and fix them before they get worse. Besides making it easier to find problems, our white bilge paint also makes it easier to find stuff that accidentally gets dropped into the bilge, such as tools and car keys. Our TotalBilge gray bilge paint is the lightest shade of gray available. Both colors offer superior opacity for excellent coverage and ability to hide previous stains on fiberglass, primed aluminum, primed steel, and wooden boats. The durable, high-gloss finish is also easy to keep clean - just wipe away the grease and grime with a cleaning and degreasing product such as TotalBoat Eco Solvent. TotalBilge is available in Quart and Gallon sizes, in your choice of Gray or White. Compare to other bilge coat paint products such as Interlux Bilgekote, Pettit EZ Bilge Paint, and Epifanes Bilge Paint. All TotalBoat products are designed for boaters, by boaters, to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

Great finish
Bought it to paint a cement bird bath, as my research showed that this is the only thing available that is non toxic to birds. The finish makes it look like plastic, which I like. Cannot attest to its durability at this time. Highly recommend buying the paint thinner for brush cleanup or buying several cheap paint brushes, as mineral spirits does not clean the product out of brush bristles.

Not a common paint...
First of all, this paint is excellent!!!, the best bilge paint I use in my career. Preparation is the most important part!! I was kind of mean.. first, I use gunk for degreasing and deep clean; then, denaturalized alcohol, dewaxed and again more alcohol. After all that, I realize the surface was very irregular and sanded down a little with 80 grips... yes, you can imagine.. more deep cleaning. Finally, the surface was ready for paint. This paint is heavy!! you can down to 10% with a thinner but I prefer a heavy first coat. I use a brush, not roller and cover really well. After 3 hours was ready for the second coat.. light clean and sand with 150 grip and second coat. The finish is very good!!Be ready to use a very good mask!! Paint has a very high VOC so it really smells a lot!!So first recommendation: control your dust and tried to work clean and without any clutter; it very easy makes a mess with this paint, have a lot of rags around you.Second, use a good fan or secure good ventilation!! and use a professional paint mask. the common ones do not make the cut.Overall, I'm really happy with this paint but need to be used with precaution.

Minimal prep, looks better than I expected.
Boat paint can be tricky, but this stuff was a dream to use. I scoured with simple green degreaser rinsed it off, barely dry I slathered this stuff onto gelcoat, bare fiberglass, pre existing bilge paint, unknown paint, closed cell foam and it just covered everything in a nice glossy hard finish. Heck, if I hadn't already bought my topside paint, this might have been a contender. I painted everything below the deck with this and even the inside of my center console.Couple notes, its thick, it will stretch and cover, but I used a brush and unless you're doing a big smooth area, I wouldn't try to roll it. Acetone dissolves it nice for clean up.

Never really hardened up
Product went down easy, but even after 5 days it never really hardened up for me.Update: One star to four stars. The company reached out to me and we shared some information about how the paint was applied, and the conditions under which it was applied. They made it right and issued me a full refund. So while the product didn't work for me (and I'm not completely without fault here) the company stepped up and took care of me. So I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Two thumbs way-up
Very pleased; happy happy happy. I painted my bilge with 2-part Interlux / VCPerformance V127/V128 epoxy paint 3-years ago, and that was horrible as a bilge paint: too-thin, didn't cover, dripped all over the place when I painted, and didn't resist oil and crud over the seasons (that is really more of an outside-hull paint). But this 1-part TotalBilge went on pretty thick, stayed where I put it, and covered almost everything (except red antifreeze stains) in one coat. Though thick, the paint went a long way; I used just-over 1/2-gallon (in a fairly large engine room). Cleanup was weird; paint all over my hands felt like soap that melted-away with just water, cleaned way-easier than I expected. I'll update this review in a season or two of use, but initial observations are impressive.

Follow directions
I got this to paint over a fiberglass repair I did in my bass boat... Use in open area, this stuff stinks!! LOL ... Once fiberglass was done... I lightly sanded/scuffed up fiberglass... followed the directions and did 3 Light coats, let dry min of 18 hours between coats... last coat took a bit to dry... I started working on it one and a half days after final coat.. it would still take a finger print but it was good enough to work on... by day 3 it would no longer hold finger prints.. Looks real good.. I used a 3" brush and tried to only go over the area i was working with once... it tacks up quick so put enough on brush to make a complete stroke and repeat.. I would use this again!

Keeping my bird bath cleaner and better sealed
I used this for the inside of my concrete bird baths to keep them cleaner (has helped a lot), safer from cracking, and it's non toxic to birds, or so I've read.It did have a learning curve for me. Use a cheap paintbrush that you can throw away after one use and then use a fresh one for the 2nd coat. 3 coats are probably not needed. And don't try applying without gloves! It's also very fumey so you might want a mask even when outside. Don't worry about perfection. Little imperfections might smooth out on their own or won't be that noticeable in the end. Remember light coats.

Nice gloss finish.
Exceptional coverage with brush, nice gloss finish that really makes your engine compartment look good as new! Just follow directions and make sure you clean surface with acetone to prevent fish eye.
