Q: Would these be ok for a 1 year old ?

They're very thick, so great for small, undeveloped hands. If the 1 year old is like my 2 year olds, the only issue is that the crayons will go in the mouth; I like that these are non-toxic for that reason!

Q: Do these break easily?

No they are quite thick, you have to put serious effort to break them.

Q: What are the dates made out of? Dyed with red 40 or other artificial dyes?

Under the “Details” section, it says they don’t use petro-chemicals to make nor dye the crayons. Therefore, red dye 40 is excluded since it’s petroleum based.
