Sony V8-6CLD 8mm / Hi8 / Digital8 Camcorder Video Head Cleaning Cassette

My Old Sony Camcorder started to just play a blue-screen on all my old Hi-8 cassettes. So I took a chance after reading some bad reviews. Not sure why some couldn't find the English Instructions. Its written inside the fold out paper. Just play the cleaner for 10 seconds. Remove and insert your home video cassettes and it just plays again. No more blue screen.It also says not to clean the camcorder more than 4 consecutive times. And to reuse the cleaner, never rewind it until it reaches the end. In other words, if you need more cleanings (less than 4), than just keep playing the cleaner 10 seconds at a time till it reaches the end. Then you can rewind. Hopefully, you'll just have to do it once for "10 seconds". I just counted 1 1000, 2 1000, etc. It's not rocket science. Well to some it might be too complicated. Just forget it. You don't deserve to own any technology. Not even 30 year old tech.

I'm digitizing old family footage and my hi8 tapes were starting to not play properly. I'm so happy I found this cassette cleaner (especially on Amazon since I needed these tapes fixed ASAP).After reading through the reviews on here, I followed the instructions listed by one of the other reviewers (the cassette is from Japan, so the instructions are in Japanese), and it worked like a charm! I can see clearly now, the static is gone :)Highly recommend! 10/10

I was just getting a blank screen (one minute it was working the next nothing) I ran this bad boy through for a cycle and bam it’s back to normal.

The cleaning tape I received is different both from the image on the Amazon page and from the description. The one I received has a French label on the tape instead of the language in the image. The description is also different. The Amazon page describes this as a V8-6CLD, but the one I received is actually a V8-25CLD, which is the same as what's shown in the image. V8-25CLD is four times longer than V8-6CLD, so that part of it is good news.However the big problem is that it damaged my camcorder head. I bought this to use in a Sony Handycam I bought in the 1990s. In retrospect, cleaning probably wasn't necessary - I only used the camcorder to record about a dozen tapes and hadn't used it since 2001. I was just cleaning the head as a precaution to get the best possible image for converting some archival Native American dancing footage to digital. In retrospect, cleaning it was a huge mistake.After using this cleaning tape for about ten seconds, the camcorder's playback was totally messed up. I then ran the cleaning tape a second time. This improved the playback, but I still had horizontal snow in the lower part of the picture. I've subsequently run the tape two more times, but the snow has not improved. I'm reluctant to try it again.I don't know yet whether this cleaning tape permanently damaged the head or simply rearranged whatever accumulated grime was on it. Whichever it is, the camcorder is unusable.I know that other people have had great success with this cleaning tape, both from this seller and from other sellers. I don't know why it didn't work for me. My camcorder was in great condition. There's no reason it should have happened.

Needed a head cleaner for our old camcorder and this was available. It definitely does the job and glad that we could find it on Amazon.
