A bit awkward to adjust the timer and sensitivity.
The tubular body of this lamp is nice thick steel. The top and bottom unscrew for GU10 LED lamps to be fitted (don’t use non-LED lamps). The electrics are sealed against weather except for the connection block for connection to the mains, which is in a protected but not totally sealed space. I think the idea is that any condensation will dribble down and out, but like all outdoor mains devices, it should be protected by RCD.Because of the PIR module on the mounting bracket, the mounting is quite tall, and partially hidden behind the lower lamp housing. The PIR sensitivity and “on-timer” adjusters (for which you need a small electrical screwdriver) are partly concealed behind the lamp housing, so to adjust them you have to take the lamp housing off. Not very convenient, especially when you need to wait between activations to see if your timer setting is right. They are labelled using a clear plastic sticker, unlike the Stanley logo, which is printed.I’m not entirely sure about the timer adjust: I think it might turn the other way than described in the manual. If I turn it fully anticlockwise, the light only stays on for 10 seconds. Turning it most of the way clockwise seems to increase the duration, which is what I want. If I’m sitting under the light and move a little it’s enough to keep the lamps on all the time. I also have always-on solar lights in the same area, but they are dimmer. It would have been nice to have a switch to keep the light on as well as the PIR. Sensitivity of the PIR seems fine - it detects movement anywhere on the paved area the light serves - and I can adjust it to come on in dim lighting conditions as well as in the dark.Fitting the lamp is straightforward: there’s just two screw holes needed, plus a hole for the 3-core power to come through the wall. It’s easy to push the cable through the rubber grommet-thing in the back, and it form a fair seal. It’s important that a light like this is positioned under something - even just a wall, but an overhang is better - that can reflect the light, otherwise you’re just lighting up the night sky with one bulb. Indirect lighting is much nicer than direct, and “warm” coloured bulbs are far more pleasant in the evening.Lamps like these are best used in areas you'll be passing through but not stopping, such as by the door. It's nice to have an all-in-one unit like this, which makes installation easier.

Looks good but expensive
This looks to be a good quality light but seems to be rather overpriced for what it is. It is supplied boxed with screws, plugs and instructions but with no GU10 LED bulbs that have to purchased separately. It is mains powered and needs to be permanently wired in so you will need to factor this in if you are unable to do this yourself. You wall mount the plastic supporting bracket and then the lamp fits over that and screws in with fiddly top and bottom screws which are very close to the wall. The bulbs are attached top and bottom after unscrewing the respective covers. Note be careful in screwing them back up as it is easy to cross thread them. The cable terminates into a connection block mounted on the lamp itself and not the mounting bracket so that you have to hold the lamp while securing them, and it does require a protective earth. The light is dependant on the bulbs used but shines up and down and seems adequate using basic LED bulbs. The PIR works well and can be adjusted for sensitivity along with the amount of time the lamp stays on. It looks attractive apart from the rather clumsy Stanley branding and feels solidly made. Overall this is a good looking light that works well but seems rather overpriced compared with alternatives, especially when you take into account that you have to buy the bulbs separately.

Room for improvement
Simple and super easy to install with a great little guide to help even the most of novice DIYers along, turn of the fuse, unwire the old one and reconnect this. However the light that this emits is very localised, not much spread becuase it's situtated near to the wall. I know it's an up / down lighter but havent played with ones that are GU10 before. The design is good but somehow I'd like to get more bang for my buck from the way it emits the light. Overall quality of the unit is great.
