This little tool works great as a third or fourth hand. I use this for soldering wires and terminals together as well as other uses.

Grips well, holds securely
I bought this to hold wire in place for soldering in my electric guitar. Grips very well, and is easy to use. Nice that it has three arms, not just two. I recommend securing the base to something heavy, like a piece of wood, to give it more stability.
