Sturdy, real VHF radio for commercial use - and dummy proof
Icom products are second to none, the quality of this handy is breathtaking. In the commercial world you need handhelds that are "dummy proof", such as when an operator mistakenly changes the channel number or inadvertently lowers the volume. How did Icom take these factors into consideration? Very simple - yet nowhere else to find - they did the following: the channel knob if changed produces a loud noise when positioned to a channel with no radio communication PLUS the volume knob is tough enough to turn so that the volume level can't be changed unless you really turn it counter clockwise. Amazing radio. Love it. The Seller is also very good, they give you all the support in case you have tech questions.

So far it has been working great. The build quality seems excellent
I got this on a recommendation from a colleague. So far it has been working great. The build quality seems excellent. I would like the same range with a shorter antenna as the stock antenna is on the long side. This is a professional radio and must be programmed by the seller or yourself. I found the software to program the frequencies into the radio on eBay and it cost an additional $40. I had emailed the frequencies to be programmed but the seller (Surplus Two Way Radios) got the order out so quick I would have had to return it and pay a $28. programming fee. I had read in a review that sellers usually do this at no charge. You may want to order by phone to be sure they can program it first and charge a fee. The plus side of owning the programming software is the ability to tailor the radio to your exact needs. I work at a ski resort during the Winter and need their frequencies and during the Summer I am able to reprogram in a different set. Very happy with the purchase.

ICOM F3001
The radio is mil spec and functions as advertised. I have had this radio for a while and it has been wet and dropped. Since I am not using a headset with this radio, wet is not a problem as the jack cover is water resistant. Every time I dropped it, I looked for damage, but found none. Cleaned up, the radio looks like it just came out of the box. The radio is solidly built and it never failed to function.-The charging cradle is not mil spec. It dropped once when it slid off the table with the radio in it and the power connector in the cradle was damaged. The power cord does not make contact unless I use a rubber band.

Still works great. Good transmission and receiving range
Very basic but durable (mil-spec). Take this out hiking all the time to communicate with the rangers from the local state park.. Has seen plenty of dust, ground falls, and people stepping on it....Still works great . Good transmission and receiving range. Have only gone two days at a time before recharging but it holds up fine being on all day with minimal PTT (i have the lithium ion battery)Would recommend buying a programming cable if you want to do your own programming:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GHIRPJ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Found some free programming software at HamFiles:[...]
