Sanuk Men's faux fur Real Cozy Flip Flop

I bought my first pair of Sanuk "Fur Real" sandals in a Southern California mall at some point back in the 90's. They went with me everywhere: My last couple years in the Marines, backpacking through Europe and the Middle East, six years living in the far east and more around the US. Other than having the toe "bar" repaired once in Hong Kong in 2004 when it popped out, these things never failed me for all those years. So it was with great regret that I finally had to lay my sandals to rest this year (2014) after the green carpet covering on top, and the rubber soles, had finally eroded past the point of no return.With a dubious heart, I decided to look on Amazon for some new sandals with which I might replace my old pair of warhorses. Imagine my surprise this past March (2014), when I discovered that not only did Sanuk still exist, they still made what I thought were the same sandals with the green carpet-like covering that I bought so long ago. I immediately ordered TWO pairs (as well as a pair for my wife and a pair for my son) to replace my old veteran sandals that had served me so well for so long. I figured my two new pairs might even cover my sandal needs for the rest of my life (but hopefully not!).A few days later they arrived and I eagerly opened them up. I noticed that these new ones were manufactured a bit differently than before. The surface carpet-like covering on my old ones was thicker, and extended over the edge and down the sole all the way around which is where it was attached to the sole. See this Amazon link to see what they used to be built like:http://www.amazon.com/Sanuk-Fur-Real-Classic-Green/dp/B0027R7IJK/These new ones however have apparently thinner carpeting which is sewed into the sole from the top surface and does not extend down around the sides at all. The other main difference I noticed is that the rubber sole is now very thin and they have a couple layers of foam between the rubber sole and the surface carpet. The old soles were one solid piece of rubber without any cheap foam in the middle. I immediately knew these were not quite the same, but was still pretty happy to have found some replacements from the same company.Fast forward to summer of this year. The surface carpet-like covering began to significantly erode under my big toe, the ball of my foot and the heel after only about 4-5 months of moderate use (indoors only and around the house). See the picture attached to this review. I tried to ignore the obvious poor quality because I really wanted to like these sandals. I loved my original pair because of their comfort and quality, and I like the company as well. However, these sandals are manufactured so poorly in comparison to their predecessors that I can no longer ignore it. They continue to degrade, as do my son's pair which he wears fairly regularly. It's now December and only about 8 months since I bought them, and they're almost ready for the trash.I lack the free time to review many products I buy on Amazon, but this one has disappointed me so greatly that I felt it necessary to take some time and put this review up so others don't make the same mistake that I did buying this product. Shame on Sanuk for pawning these imposters off on what was once a loyal customer base. Should they ever decide to redeem themselves and begin manufacturing these the way they used to, I'll be more than happy to give them another shot. Until then, I can only give this product a single star for very poor quality and a squandered legacy.

I have purchased the Sanuk Fur Real 4 times during the past 8 years or so. This is the first time that I realized the product is not the same as the ones I have had in the past. the outer surface material is not as "fluffy" as it has been, and overall it has shown to be in poorer quality.

I have wide feet and these are loose on me. They are soft and easy to wear. I just got them because they were very inexpensive and I wanted something to quickly slip on and off around the deck/hottub. I could not wear them for any real walking.

I like wearing weird feeling flip flops both around the house and out and about so I ordered these and man was I blown away! the feeling of these things is amazing! my house is fully carpeted but i find myself wearing these all day even if I'm working at my desk at home. and they are now the 1st thing I wear when venturing outside of my lair. I've had these for a couple months and I've used them so much I've a couple more pairs just in case. They are definitely worth the money!

This is an awesome sandle but they run 1/2 size small, so ordering for a birthday present was a disaster of sending them back and reordering. Belated is no fun!

After owning a couple of previous pairs of Sanuk sandals I decided to try the Fur Reals, not only did they fit great but are absolutely they most comfortable pair of sandals I've ever owned!!! I only wish they still made them in the blue color as well but that's just a personal thing!!!

on a whim I bought these because they looked like outdoor carpet as well as I was curious and my old flops had just broken. With the one exception being the original Tiddies flops I bought 25 years ago, these are by far the most comfy I've had in many years. Its a very soft 'grass' and my feet dont seem to get as sweaty as they do with regular flipflops.

and is a quality product from Sanuk. I wear flip-flops all Summer and this brand has become one of my favorites. These are very comfortable and are true to size. Have received several compliments---just makes them that much better for me. I would purchase these again and can confidently recommend. Hope your experience is as positive as mine.

Toller Schuh, der ein absolut authentisches, weiches und doch irgendwie gesundes Gefühl gibt. Aber Achtung: Die Schuhe fallen relativ klein aus, lieber eine Nummer größer kaufen. Vor allem aber: Kaufen, die Dinger sind der Hammer !!!!!

super aussehen und wie erwartet supppppper bequem! wer Sanuk kennt, weiß das die "surfer Marke" wert auf bequemlichkeit legt. ein echter Sanuk halt

Top Qualität, sehr gute Verarbeitung und sehr angenehm zu tragen. Für die heiße Sommerzeit ein muß.Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen.

Ein sehr hoher Wohlfühlfaktor!!! man geht wie auf einem Rasenteppich!!!würd ich sofort wieder kaufen!!ganz klar 5 Sterne!!! jim
