We created the Automaton Wall Clock series getting inspired not only by old mechanical wrist watches which gear motors seem to us real works of art but mechanical toys which were quite popular among the rich in XVIII in France. This wall clock belongs to our new Automaton Bite Wall Clock series but the main difference is that here all the gears move smoothly and silently together with the clock mechanism. This beautiful effect of motion doubles because of the mirror back layer. The gears are powered by 4 AA batteries. Moreover this Automaton wall clock is much bigger than the other ones.In horology, a tourbillon (/tʊərˈbɪljən/; French: [tuʁbijɔ̃] "whirlwind") is an addition to the mechanics of a watch escapement. Developed around 1795 and patented by the French-Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet on June 26, 1801, a tourbillon aims to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage, to negate the effect of gravity when the timepiece (thus the escapement) is stuck in a certain position. By continuously rotating the entire balance wheel/escapement assembly at a slow rate (typically about one revolution per minute), the tourbillon averages out positional errors. (c) wiki Our wooden clock is made of many layers of Baltic birch, painted wood stain and acrylics. Handcrafted galvanized brass screws are used in the clock.*the clock can be personalized (any name on clock face instead `Automaton`).Size : 314 mm (12.36in) *AA battery is not included**the clock hands can slightly differ from those on the pics

The perfect gift
While I haven't given this to my husband yet, it is truly the perfect gift for someone close to you that can just buy what they want, when they want. I was kind of at a loss for a gift for my husband for christmas, and while we can just get what we want, it takes away from the surprise christmas morning if you know everything under the tree. I found this clock under the steampunk gears heading, and had to order it for my mechanical engineering, wood shop working, hiking husband. I can't wait to give it to him. It doesn't have glass in it though, so it may become a pain to dust, because some of the gears do move.

Lots of moving parts that adds to the coolness & also takes away that coolness if broken!
Unfortunately the clock arrived with 1 of the parts (gear) broken and because the shipping label showed that it came from Russia, I wasn’t about to send it back. We had to take it apart after buying a new clock mechanism and rebuilding 1 of the decorative turning gears. Unfortunate as the clock is really cool.

My wife loved this as a gift for our 1st wedding anniversary.
The piece looks great and functions as advertised. The only issue we ran into was that during shipment from Russia to the U.S. the amazing gentle and caring people of the currier services (sarcasm) beat the box up pretty bad, damaging one of the moving gears/clock movement mechanism. Fortunately the seller was awesome enough that when I contacted them about the problem, they're sending me a new one to replace it with!If you're looking for a great gift or even an accent piece for yourself, I highly recommend this clock, I wasn't disappointed and believe you'll feel the same way.

Nice unique clock
The clock is interesting and my only issue is with the hands. A better quality would definitely make the clock more desirable, in my opinion.
