Magnetic Oil Drain Plug Magnetic Sump Drain Nut Oil Drain Bolt (20x1.5, Red)

I drive about 2000 miles a month. I installed this on my VW TDI (2015 MK VII). I had a bit of concern using this initially, because it's aluminum, and my regular oil pan drain plugs are steel, which I replace each time, with a dealer unit.But I wanted to see if there was any metal components being released from my engine, in the oil. So I'm trying this. I was very careful to not overtighten the drain plug (because it's aluminum), but snugging it sufficiently so as not to come loose. I've checked the oil level every few days, then about every 2 weeks.The oil level is consistent. it's been almost 2 months and over 3500 miles. So far, so good. But until I remove the plug and inspect it, I can only report that it doesn't appear to have any issues thus far.I'll update my review in a few months, with pictures.

I was not aware that you have to specifically torque the oil pan drain screw on a Polaris Ranger, If not it will strip the threads in time and become useless, So I took on the project to drill and tap the next size up and chose this product, The magnet does stick out a bit far and had to be grounded down otherwise it hits the Oil Return screen and can damage it severely.The drill and tops it was difficult to find locally but luckily Amazon made that easy. Installation was a success it has been a month and no leaks, screw holds tight. This time I torqued it down to the specific torque required.

I like it. Replaced my 2014 S1000RR stock plug. Has a metric hex nut instead of stock torx, but that is just preference. After doing my next oil change I noticed that the magnet is strong! collected more particles than my stock drain plug did.Does not come with washer even though pic shows it does.

Delivered on time. Great price. As previous reviews have stated, the supplied crush washer was an odd size. I also ordered the 50pc Honda oem crush washer set with this. I used a factory crush washer instead of the supplied crush washer. It works fine. I didn't change my oil when replacing this plug and the flow stopped way before the plug was threaded in all the way. That was 3 days ago. I have no reason to believe this plug will ever leak if used properly. As to people who think it will strip out easier, well, the plug head is 14mm and 6point. Which means a 14mm six point socket should always be used. Anything else is just asking for the plug to get stripped out. And, it's an oil plug. They don't need that much torque to seal. Especially on aluminum pans such as the one I have.I would buy again and/ or reccomend this to a friend.

As I expected, this drain plug is aluminum, even though it was not made clear anywhere in the description. I choose it becuase I liked the way the red looks (restoring an old golf cart), but aluminum is definitely not the ideal material for an oil drain plug. It is much softer then steel (easy thread deformation) and since many oil pans are cast aluminum you are twice as likely to cross thread it. Add to the fact that this is made in China, so the red andodize does not seem very durable and the threads were not cleanly cut, I am regretting this choice. It was rather difficult to start by hand, most likely because the thread OD is just a little rough.To sum up; Cool looking - Yes, Functional - No.

I'm not sure why they offer these drain plugs in various colors. After all, who's going to see it except for you or your mechanic? Anyway, I bought the red one and it looks cool, LOL. More importantly, it fits my vehicle. It comes with a crush washer. No leaks.
