Learn to Do Tunisian Lace Stitches (Book & DVD) (Annie's Attic: Crochet #879552)

Just okay
This book will teach you to do the Tunisian Lace Stitches just as it claims. However, I don't think anyone could learn the technique without the help of the DVD The book is supposed to be about teaching a technique and in my opinion should be written with clearer instructions.. I have been crocheting nearly all of my life (68) and I had to start several of the projects over a couple of times in order to figure out what I was supposed to do. The actual process is easy, it's the instructions that are left out that make it hard. I think the author thought the instructions were very clear in the written material but for teaching purposes it needs more explanation. The instructions should more closely follow what we are used to reading when reading a regular crochet pattern. Or at the very least should go through a written pattern sample step by step in greater detail. If you know how to crochet and stick with it, you will get it eventually, but she could have been more helpful. A lot of blanks need to be filled in.

Excellent Book
I am just learning Tunisian Crochet and I found this book to be a valuable resource. The description of stitches and general instructions in the book are very clear. The photo step-by-step descriptions are very clear. I can't wait to make the swirls baby afghan for my new granddaughter. I love all of the patterns and can see that I am going to be wearing a lot of shawls in the near future.I'm also thinking of making scarfs from some of the stitch patterns. An easy way to learn the stitches and make Christmas presents.I'm in love with the DVD. It makes everything so much clearer. Reading is great, but moving pictures of any technique are wonderful. I found the video to be very professional and filmed in a manner that allows the viewer to get a clear picture of each of the stitches and stitch patterns. The videos are precise and slow enough for the viewer to see exactly how the stitch is made.As an aside, I'm in love with the photography in this book. I find it to be tasteful, opulent and gorgeous. It makes the book a pleasure to view and read.

I love this book!
If there is such a thing as a crochet groupie, then I would be Kim Guzman's. This is my third Tunisian focused book by Kim Guzman and I couldn't be happier! Her instructions are so clear: she uses written, detailed steps, lots of photos, charted symbols and a cd full of helpful videos! There are plenty of stitches and stitch combinations for both the beginner and the adventurous. This book is not just a resource for learning Tunisian lace stitches, or just a pattern book of lovely Tunisian lace projects, but it is a resouce that Tunisian crochet designers will refer back to again and again for both technique refreshers and inspiration.Fabulous book that belongs in every crocheter's library.

A solid reference to open and lacey Tunisian stitches
This book, by one of the better designers in Tunisian has a good number of lace and open stitches to try. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. I appreciate the swatches all being the same color for comparison. A good buy, and good reference material, especially if you like to improvise Tunisian. If you are not already experienced in Tunisian crochet or it's been a while since you have done it definitely take the time to practice/re familiarize the basic stitches. I can see how someone with little or no experience in Tunisian would be lost if they jumped right in. It's not a beginner's guide!

It's OK
I really wanted this for the stitch patterns and instruction/information on the subject, I doubt I will ever make any of the projects. There are only a few stitches, I was hoping for more. Also was hoping for more detailed instructions on Tunisian crochet, I think this book is more for those with some experience. If you're already familiar with Tunisian crochet, you may like this. If, however, you have never done Tunisian crochet and are looking for clear, detailed instructions, this probably isn't for you.

Great Book, I loved it.
I will highly recommend this book. There is nothing to waste. The first half of the book is a course in Tunisian crochet and the other half is about the projects. The DVD is a wonderful tool which will help the people that need a visual tool. All projects are beautiful and fashionable. Also, I will like to advise new buyers to be aware that all projects are intermediate level, meaning that this book is not for crochet beginners. I would also like to add that Kim Guzman, the author has created stunning pieces to please all crowds.

It so wonderful to be taught by someone who loves fibersrts
Thank you Kim, what a pleasure to be taught by you. Its so nice to be taught by a person who tells you experiment make your own combination of stitches, but also gives a clear explanation of what she is showing you. The DVD is an additional bonus. Just so very grateful to wonderful teachers so I can in turn teach others. Again, thank you Kim Guzman!

Not for a beginner
I tried this out but it is not for anyone other than an intermediate Tunisian crocheter and even then it was still difficult to follow.

A great learning tool for Tunisian
This booklet is very clearly organised in three graded and consequential steps to enable you to make the lovely pieces Guzman offers. In the very first pages, you can learn quite a few stitches, from the Tunisian Simple Stitch to the Extended one; explanations and photographs are very good, and - should you be lost - you can always rely on the DVD that comes with the book.In part two, you get your stitches together by working on some Stitch Patterns (think granny squares) that use all the above stitches and will be used as foundation for the patterns in part three. In part three Guzman presents some elegant lace patterns, though made in yarns of very similar weight. They were quite a discover for me, being one of those sad people who think that with Tunisian you can only make dishclothes in beige cotton with Simple Stitch. The only small minus is the slightly amateurish quality of the camera work in the DVD, but - all things considered - this is an excellent buy if you want to get a good start in Tunisian crochet.

Learn to do Tunisian Lace Stitches - Kim Guzman - a brilliant book!
Just received this book and am watching the DVD. I am extremely impressed at the variety of designs and techniques. I recently bought some flexible Tunisian crochet hooks and have made a number of items using the Tunisian stockinette stitch but needed a bit more challenge. I bought this book and will be working on a project very soon! Thoroughly recommended!
