Up Up And Away
This is one of thoes films that on paper I sould hate, yet I think its great. Its your typical boys own adventure type yarn, that may be a little light weight, but moves along at a cracking pace and is always entertaining. The other reviews cover the storyline in detail and perfectly, this is more of a technical review.I bought the Region 1 version, the picture and sound quality are perfect from start to finish, there is no jerkiness when the camera pans around, something which can be a problem with some US discs, and everything is crystal clear,no fuzzy or milky picture quality, again something which can be a problem with NTSC.But best of all the disc will play on an ordinary DVD player,I have tried it on several players,so I am able to vouch for this fact. Its a shame how some films are forgotten and never get a proper release in all territorys, but at least you can now get hold of a good copy of this film, which does deserve to be remembered.

Love the film, DVD is OK
I remember seeing this film with my dad in the cinema when it was first released and becoming obsessed with airships for a while, so I've always been fond of this film. I will not review the story except to say it's a good, old fashioned, war film. The DVD quality was good but not great, the best thing was that this is the first time I've seen the film in its correct aspect since I saw it at the cinema. On TV it's always been shown in PAN & SCAN or, at best, 16:9. As the film is about a huge airship seeing the full picture really helps. The picture quality was good but not fantastic, although this may be down to the age of the film not the transfer to DVD.The main problem for me was the sound quality. I found the volume to be quite low and some voices had a fairly high level of sibilance, ssssooo ssssome people sssounded like thissss, when I turned the volume up. Again this may be in part due to the age if the film but I have many films on DVD from the same era that sound great. This film could do with a good remaster but I cannot see that happening as Warner virtually make each copy of Zeppelin to order so obviously can't see much sales potential in it. This is probably the best you're be able to see the film for the foreseeable future.

zeppelin r1 warner archive.
2.40.1 ratio.nice picture.plays on my ps3 so i dont think it is regionaly encoded.nice little mission behind enemy lines but from a german perspective.these germans are not nasty nazi,s.and show courage and in some cases the ultimate sacrifice.it is nice to see anton difrring, and peter carsten as reasonable human beings.michael yorke just wanting to survive and a lovely elke sommer who could act.this is not a large budget film and shows in places but the clmactic battle is well done.and just a footnote the hangers for the r101 british airships in bedfordshire were used for some of the filming.not far from old waldron aerodrome.which is also a small museum which house the shuttleworth collection.mostly aircraft before and up to ww1 and a lot of airship artifacts.this is a good boys own sunday afternoon film and not one swear word.

Zeppelin
A good import, and a rare Michael York film. I saw this at the cinema when it first came out, some years ago now, (Wow a Zeppelin) a brillant film. Get a big wide screen tele, (the bigger the better) turn the light out, ramp the volume up. A 1st world war film with a difference. Where's my popcorn. drink please!

zeppelin at it`s best
forget all the other copies out there, this region 1 is the only version to buy, proper widescreen and good mono sound, one reviewer said subtitles are missing, well he must of been watching another film,as zeppelin has no need of subtitles, all sound is in english.Good story, not much about zeppelins, but don`t forget this is a hollywood film, just sit back and enjoy, all video tape versions and other dvd disc`s are pan and scan or poor picture reproduction,so don`t wast your money, get this warner archive version only.

Though it feels a little rushed in places and suffers from the FX work of the day Zeppelin is still a film worth checking out.
