Fun, easy to learn, good quality.
My first venture into using looper pedals. I've wanted one forever, but I'm also one who doesn't want to learn how to finagle with 20 different buttons and settings. So the Ditto was a great option. But having just a little extra feature with the Ditto X2 is perfect for what I need. This unit basically is ready to play as soon as you hook it up. Get your groove going on a riff, hit the record button on the beat, then hit it again or the stop button to stop recording. It'll loop indefinitely while you play over it. You can overdub a bunch too. I haven't messed around with the slow or reverse yet so once I do, I'll update that portion of the review. The good thing is you can adjust the volume of the loop playback. My only gripe is somehow, I get a HUGE buzzing/hum with this and no other pedal in my setup. It's much more prevalent when I switch to my overdrive channel as expected, but it's not as loud with any other pedal. Perhaps I need a filter at the end of my effects chain. Oh well. You can run it several different ways. This is what I have right now:Guitar -> tube preamp -> Bad Monkey OD -> DOD distortion -> amp --(FX loop)--> Cathedral reverb -> Ditto x2 -> ampYou can throw it anywhere in your chain and see what tones and setup work the best for you. This happens to be how I like the sound and effects. I haven't used my delay, chorus, flange, or wah in conjunction with the looper yet so I can't comment on how it affects everything else. There are many variables to consider in terms of where you want this unit to sit.Anyway, the product itself is wonderful and opens up a whole new level of playing for me. At this point, I'm playing some rhythm tracks, looping it, then soloing over the rhythm. I've started recording some solo tracks and looping that with another solo in order to practice harmonizing on the fly. I haven't yet played out with this so I can't comment on how well it performs when looping on the fly during a live performance, but I imagine it being fairly user friendly.Heavy duty construction and seems solidly built. Metal box. I also baby the crap out of my musical items so I rarely ever scratch, ding, drop, or bump my equipment. So I can't really comment on how durable something is in terms of banging it around.
