Good album for us metalheads
The only thing I don't like about this album is that there are no guitar solos to be found anywhere. I guess that fits with the fact that this was Disturbed's first album, which came out when the whole nu-metal thing was in full force. There were some good nu-metal bands (like these guys, Mudvayne, and System of a Down), but for the most part I felt many bands of this type were kinda sealing their own fate. With any kind of rock band, you have to have a guitarist who is good enough to play anything. I never understood the nu-metal preference to avoid guitar solos. It just seems like they were taking the easy way out somehow. Anyway, this album is good in spike of that. The cover of Shout by Tears for Fears established Disturbed's tradition for making metal covers of songs that you wouldn't think would sound good as metal, but do.

A great re-release of a classic album.
Hark back with me, if you will, a full ten years ago this month. A then yet little-known band by the name of Disturbed hit the "nu-metal" scene with their debut album The Sickness and slowly took the rock world by storm. Their unique spin on a genre of music that was, at the time, slowly becoming stale and predictable with a swarm of Korn-wannabes stepping up was certainly refreshing. Granted their sound wasn't TOO original, but it was definitely a break from what was becoming popular. The band (vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, then-bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak...who has since been replaced by John Moyer, formerly of the Union Underground...and drummer Mike Wengren) formed a powerhouse quartet, and that was evidenced by such pulsating, rhythm-driven singles as "Stupify," "Voices," and the anthemic "Down With The Sickness."A decade and three more studio albums (Believe, Ten Thousand Fists, and Indestructible) later, not a whole lot has changed. The band's sound has improved by leaps and bounds since the original release of The Sickness, with Draiman's vocal abilities more pronounced than ever before and Donegan's ever-impressive soloing, but through it all they have remained true to the style that got them where they are today. With this re-release of their debut record, the band is symbolically saying "thank you" to all of the fans who have been with them since day one. The remastering of this album makes it sound like it could have been released last month instead of ten years ago.Songs like the singles I mentioned above, as well as "The Game," "Fear," "Shout 2000," and "Droppin' Plates," sound as great and are as fun to rock out to as they were when The Sickness originally came out. But this release is more than just another useless double-dip that so many bands are fond of. Along with the original twelve tracks are: a special lenticular piece which alternates between the album's original cover and an image of the band's mascot "The Guy," a code for the band's website [...] which grants users access to clips of the recording process for their yet to be released fifth album, and two bonus tracks, "God of the Mind" and "A Welcome Burden." Granted these two additional songs were available on a couple different movie soundtracks several years ago, but it is nice to have them here as well. If you've never heard either of these, give them a listen as they are certainly among the finest in the group's catalog. The only surprise here was that the release listed Fuzz as one of the members of the band after he has long parted ways with them, but I assume this was done solely for maintaining the debut album's integrity amongst fans. The band, in the liner notes, thanks its fans for all of the support over the last ten years. No, thank you Disturbed, for crafting some of the most memorable and rocking modern metal tunes of the past decade.

Disturbed's AMAZING Debut!
I have been a fan of Disturbed Since Day 1. They are my favorite band - along with PanterA.Even if you don't like heavy metal that much i would still give this a shot. some of my friends only like rap and HATE metal with a passion. I showed them disturbed, and they cant stop listening to it. This CD is a great Debut album and every song on here is amazing in my opinion. I would also like to reccomend all of their other albums, as they are all amazing as well. This 10th anniversary edition is even better. If you are reading this review, PICK THIS UP RIGHT NOW GO AND BUY IT!!!It comes with:- all 12 songs on the original album, and they are all remastered. This isn't like normal remastering, where it sounds the same. You can really tell the difference if you listen to both the original songs, and the remastered one. Sound like brand new songs!- 2 Bonus tracks : God of The Mind, and A Welcome Burden - both very nice tracks- A card with a code on the back - if you go to the official site, you can redeem the code for a download of their DVD : Decade of Disturbed. Very cool DVD shows very early footage of the band, how they formed, how they came up with some ideas, live concerts, playing with other bands such as pantera, many cool footage clips and documentaries. You can download it in several formats:1. You can download it to just open and watch on your PC2. You can download it so that you can copy the data on a blank DVD (you can get at walmart) and play in your DVD player.3. You can download it so that you can put it on Itunes and watch it on you Ipod Touch, Ipad, Iphone, Apple TV, or any other apple device.- A very cool holographic cover. It changes from the original album cover, to their 1st image of their mascot, named the guy, as a grining face.Very cool.Out of 10, I would have to give this album a 20, Because it is my 3rd most favorite album of all time.GO AND BUY IT!!!

Pleasantly surprised
This was my first fancy colored vinyl album I have bought, and I was worried it wasn't going to sound great. Luckily it sounds excellent, and does look really cool. I also usually don't like an entire album crammed onto one LP disc, but I don't really have any complaints on this one - it seems to have been mastered well and sounds really good. This is a fun listen and really gets the blood pumping. Going to have to get more Disturbed albums!

E ogni scoperta, o riscoperta, o riascolto mi trova in prima fila, of course!
