Top of the line mat for tall people.
I only just got the mat, so I can't tell you it's durability but it seems solidly built. Being an extra long and wide mat and being made of rubber it's a little heavier than the PVC mats. That said, I like that when I eventually toss it out, it will decompose not be a bunch of plastic bits that will never degrade.Sticky? yes, both sides, and until my hands get really wet from sweat I do fine.Thick? At a 1/4th inch it's as thick as they sell them. I do use a towel for my knees in some poses but then so does most of the class.Long & wide enough? Yes I'm 6'1" and it's nice to overhang both ends of the mat.The extra size of the mat is well worth it if you are tall.Expensive? Yeah, it's probably one of the most high dollar mats out there, but if you amortize it over the life of the mat, and a lifetime of yoga sessions, it's cheap compared to the gym membership, or even the gas to drive to the gym.

Great Cushion, Excellent Stability
This is an excellent mat. I also own the smaller version which is identical just smaller. Great cushion and stability. Super sticky. First couple of classes it was a tad slippery when really wet from sweat but that didn't last but a few classes. I love this mat. Equal to the quality of jade fusion but at a much better price point. I've also practiced on manduka pro mats and I prefer the hugger mugger para hands down. Great company. Don't hesitate.

Perfect for tall people!
Amazing product! I’m 6’ and this gives me room to move around on the mat without coming off it. Finally! Also no slip! This leaves me feeling secure on the mat and so roomy.

this mat smells horrible
I am not sure if I will be able to use this mat. it has been hanging on my hammock out back for a week and when the wind blows it down and I pick it up my hands then smell like this chemical nasty smell. will I ever be able to lay on this mat? it feels like it will be a nice mat. I like the textures on the top and bottom surfaces. the smell is overwhelming and makes me sick.

The smell goes away.
I've had this mat for years and I love it. Had the regular size version before it but im tall so I shelled out for the big one. I'd forgotten all about the smell it came with. Actually put it in the washer and hung it to dry which helped but is not recommended by the manufacturer. Left a little stripe on it but didn't do any real damage. My cat scratched it in some places now we do yoga at home but it's still in one piece and holding up fine. I've used it for outdoor classes too. Love the cushioning. It's flat and stable but you don't slide unless its a sweaty class. I use a yoga towel at the top for my hands if it's sweaty and a big full length one for yin classes if I want to slide around a little better. Bought it because I wanted extra padding that doesn't feel like extra padding. Well worth what i paid. I had to use a cheap mat last week and im so glad to have this one back I wrote a review.

Big & comfy but SLIPPERY WHEN WET!
I purchased this mat directly from Hugger Mugger’s website, and feel a bit mislead. It boasts this mat as a versatile mat that’s good for any practice. I’m a new Yogi who’s practice is primarily hot vinyasa. I did a ton of research, looking for mats that were good in hot yoga, and on the website the 4 reviews for the mat (that they show) are all 5 star and some even talk about it being good for hot yoga. First annoyance was (my own fault) paying $28 dollars for shipping when I could’ve gotten it delivered for free from Amazon. Second thing was what I noticed when I opened it, which was the strong rubber smell. I expected this and am hopeful it will go away after time (I’ve only had it for a couple weeks). I rolled it out on my floor, got into a couple poses, and loved the size and comfort of the thick rubber. It felt nice and grippy, too. So I took it to my first class and soon as the sweat started pouring, I started slipping. I mean, the sweat pooled up and it got SLICK. I felt very unstable in and position where my weight had to be supported by my hands and feet or I was at any other angle then standing straight. I did some more research, even talked to one of the instructors, and I was told it may get better over time, which I’m hopeful for. I’ve only been to about 4 classes with it, but I did try sprinkling some coarse sea salt and rubbing it down with a damp cotton cloth. It was still slick after that. Also worth noting I tried both sides, as the website boasts it being dual sided with different textures, and the side without the print seemed more porous and open celled, maybe more sweat absorbent. It seemed a tiny bit better, but still very slick. So while the mat is super comfy to use in a normal, non sweaty practice, so far it seems Otto be a dud for hot yoga. I will follow up if this changes, however I did invest in a cork mat, as I feel very uneasy in certain poses on this mat with little grip.
