Serves the purpose - No big complaints
I read the reviews where it stated that they only received one soup bowl as opposed to four. I believe they've gotten this straightened out because I ordered two sets of these and received eight as promised. Other reviews said they were badly packaged. I'm certain they took this under advisement because when I got mine, they were packaged with so much bubble wrap that I probably could've driven over the box with my car and not damaged them. These do boast as being "dishwasher safe" but as other reviews have mentioned, there is a small hole in the handle of each (on purpose), so I wouldn't recommend putting them in the dishwasher because water will get trapped in there and it will be almost impossible to get it out. I hand-washed mine. One minor complaint I have is that each bowl had a big manufacturer sticker inside at the bottom of each bowl (larger than a half dollar coin) and they weren't easy to peel off. They ripped and shredded as I tried to peel it away. I ended up having to soak each bowl in hot water then scrape the gooey sticker residue out with a knife and Brillo pad. It was a one-time annoyance, so no big deal, but an annoyance nonetheless. These bowls are definitely oven safe. I used them tonight for the first time under the broiler for my French Onion soup and they held up just fine. The capacity is as stated and is sufficient. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably buy bowls that are straight up and down on the walls of the bowl versus these that have a lip that accommodates the lids. It's much harder to clean beneath those edges and I don't see a major need for the lids considering I bought them to make French Onion soup which has melted cheese deliberately dribbling off the top edges. A lid is just in the way for that.Overall, these are cool little bowls. They're well built and can withstand a lot of heat. I'll probably use them for serving tomato soup or baked beans or chowder and keep looking for that "perfect" French Onion soup bowl.

Wonderful bowls
I will start by saying that the bowls are not the color in the photo. I was expecting yellow, but they are indeed brown. I suspect it's an optical illusion created by the lighting. However, the color does not detract from the quality and versatility.Initially, I was concerned that they would be difficult to clean, based on other reviews. But that was not the case. A small sponge with a scrubby side worked beautifully. All dishes here on the ranch are washed by hand. We don't trust our dishes, or our health to automatic dish washers. So, if you use a major appliance, I can't vouch for how clean they come out. Also of concern was a comment that the rinse water can not be removed. Balderdash! Tipping the bowl upside down and giving it a couple sharp shakes removes 99% of the water. The rest dries as quickly as any other dish in the strainer. If you can't find a myriad of uses for these bowls, you aren't trying hard enough. So far, and I've had them less than a week, we've had Boston Baked Beans, Lancashire Hot Pot, French Onion Soup, chili, and horror-of-horrors, Ramen Noodles. Some things were prepared directly in the bowls, and others were just served in them. How much more versatile can you get?If I were to score these on a scale of 1 to 100, I would give them a 95. The other 5 is for them not being yellow.

Exactly what I wanted for onion soup
Received them before the expected date, which was great, however one bowl arrived broken so had to reorder and ship back the 1st set. I did follow the advise of previous reviews and held onto the original set until the 2nd set arrived to ensure that I ended up with 4 good crocks.I like the size as they are larger than most of the other crocks I looked at, and the lids are great for keeping the adults soup hot while allowing the kid's soup to cool before serving. The only negative that I have found is that the handles all have a small hole on the bottom side. The packaging states that they are dishwasher safe, however after running them through a cycle I found that water is now inside the handles and is impossible to get out. I fear that eventually the water will deteriorate the inside of the handles since they cannot be glazed inside, or that the water will not be able to evaporate/dry and result in issues with mold, or break when used in the oven.

Great product, get that 70's "kitchy" feel and good quality too! :)
I bought these for my husband. He's taking up the cooking the last few months and we are also trying to get that "kitchy" feel in our kitchen and having a blast shopping on Amazon. They were a touch smaller than expected, but they look great in the kitchen and we broke them in with some of his spicy beer chili and it was a feeling that reminded me of french soup crocks from the 70's. I think that's why I expected them to be larger but it doesn't matter. They were packed well, not a scratch. We both are pleased, and I highly recommend washing by hand and not in the dishwasher. These are too precious to chance a scratch or chip in the dishwasher. If you're looking for that 70's feel, or your favorite restaurant's soup crocks, these are definitely a thumbs up! :) Enjoy your shopping!

Nice Quality!
They broil well and hold approximately 14 FL oz. As for cleaning, I hand washed them. There is some water that gets stuck in the handle after cleaning, but all you have to do is position the handle downward on your drying mat and let it air dry properly. These are made in China. My grandmother and I made french onion soup from scratch together. We finished it in these crocks with bakery made croutons and Colby Jack cheese slices, then broiled. We put the covers on, transferred them to tray tables in the livingroom and both tasted our successful recipe! The soup even stayed warm long enough for my slow eating habits! We had a genuinely great afternoon together, all because of these authentic crocks!

Good little crocks, be careful washing them
Overall, these were great little crocks that we bought to make homemade French onion soup in. They come with lids that fit nicely and have a handle for easier removal from the oven.I docked one star due to them having a small hole underneath the handle that allows water to get between the ceramic layers of the bowl. I don’t think it affects anything significant, but it is something to be aware of.

Okay quality. One came broken. Real shame
Okay quality. Handle is hollow as there's a really tiny hole in it, so fills up with water every time you wash it. One came broken and it costs isn't cost effective to send it back for a replacement, so I only have three out of the four to use. Real shame as they are a good size
