Great unit
This 220V timer replaces the same one I have had for 30 years, Obviously they are quality items. All metal including the box it is mounted in. Wiring diagram in the cover is difficult to see, very small print. However there are several wiring instructions on You Tube that work fine. As I was replacing a like item I had no fuss with the wiring. Mounted outside on the wall of the house, controls my in-ground pool pump. Easy to install, easy to program and works fine right out of the box. The reason for replacement of the old one was the clock motor stopped working in the old one. Not inexpensive but after 30 years of use I got my money's worth!

I'd Buy it Again
This time switch has been switching our in-ground pool pump off and on, daily, May to mid-September for four summer seasons. The first two winters, we removed the unit from its housing and took it inside. Recently we've kept it outside, without power on the circuit, because we now leave the pump outside all winter and we bump the pump motor once or twice in the off-season (when the temperature is above freezing and the intake to the pump is open so that the pump won't create suction on the winterized pool).I especially like the manual on-off switch that lets us bypass the time settings, because it comes in so handy when back washing the filter, pumping out rainwater and, as said, bumping the motor in winter. As long as the circuit is active, the time switch will keep accurate time, even when you're using the on-off switch in manual mode. But it's mechanically timed so you have to reset it if there's a local power failure, or in the spring (we keep the circuit off in the winter except when bumping the pump motor).Concerning the timer -- there is only one Off and one On setting for every 24 hours. The on & off switches are mechanically adjustable, so we can run the pool pump, say, 20 hours a day when we first open the pool and then set it back to, say 16 or 12 hours a day, later. The switches are designed to be tightened down with a thumbscrew. I normally tweak the screw down just a little bit harder by gently turning it an additional quarter-turn with needlenose pliers. Offhand, I would say that you could set it to a 23 or 23-1/2 hour On or Off cycle, if you only want to activate or deactivate for a short time. But not much more than that. Mechanically. it's limited in the switches (think of them as cams) that require a degree of travel in order to turn on or off. In other words, don't expect to be able to set them to go Off then On again after 1 or 2 minutes. But applications that would require such timing are very, very rare.If you don't have basic electrical skills, hire an electrician to install it. If you plan to install this automated switch anywhere near a swimming pool, you may want to use a GFI circuit. Ours is 25 feet away from the pool and behind an 8 foot wooden fence, with nothing but plastic pipe between the pump and the pool, so we use a traditional circuit breaker. Finally, the time switch comes with a metal box. We mounted ours on a brick wall where there is no back-splash from the rain. All of our cable penetrations come through the bottom of the box and we use cable clamps (although not rain-tight) where the wires enter. With this setup, I have never seen a drop of water inside the box. There are gaskets where the hinged door closes on the box. Naturally, the box has been mounted outdoors all of these four years. There is a small degree of corrosion but, so far, not nearly enough to warrant concern of a rust-through. I expect this metal housing to last another four years, or even more. But the manufacturer would do well by applying a little extra paint.BOTTOM LINE:Nothing lasts forever; especially when exposed to the elements. This timer switch has held up very well. It shows no sign of failing in the near future. And even if it does, it has already paid for itself.

What I Needed
Why only 4 stars? Because it didn't last over 20 years. Why not 3 stars? Because it's still available to replace the exact model that wore out. How good is it really? I'm not an electrician so I don't know.I had this exact timer for my water heater at an old, I said old house. I have this exact one at my current house for my pool pump. The timer went out after 15-18 years service. We live in Florida and perhaps the moisture got to a metal gear inside. Who knows. I didn't like the plastic timers at the local big box home store. Two employees at the store hinted that their products weren't the same quality as what I already had.I didn't expect this timer, which appears to have been in production for 30 or more years, to still be on the market. I wanted it because I expected it to last a long time and would fit right into place over the other one.Convenience? CheckLongevity? CheckHandles 240V? CheckFits the same screw holes already drilled? CheckHas all the same knockouts & conduits in the same place? CheckDon't want to figure out the wiring? CheckAll the existing wires already cut to just the right length? CheckBottom line, I took out the old one and put this in within an hour. It works perfectly and I can forget about it.

Well engineered, well built product that should last for years
My house has two of these outside to control landscape lighting. This product is function over form. They are not pretty but they are incredibly solid. The only reason I replaced them (with the same model) is that after four decades of use, the weather took its toll and the enclosures and rusted and corroded away. These T101R I purchased appear as sturdy and durable as the original, a rare treat in today's world of flimsy disposable products with laughably short lifetimes. I expect these to last for decades, just like the original pair.

Saves time, money, and aggravation.
Simple design and concept. Easy to follow instructions and therefore a breeze to install. Hooked up to pool pump and salt system/chlorine generator. Run system 8hrs/day. Can easily adjust if needed. Would highly recommend.

Simple timer and it works
Have this timer hooked up for a wintertime automotive block heater outlet. Keeps time very well and works great. I opted for this particular timer due to the "Intermatic" brand name which is tried and true.I was looking at the digital timers on Amazon but chose this mechanical timer mostly due to the fact that we have various numerable power outages and interruptions because of our rural location. Going outside to mess with a digital timer and reset everything at -30c pushing buttons and going through various menus? Screw that! A simple spin of the timer dial on this timer to reset to the correct time and it's good to go again.
