Star Wars The Complete Visual Dictionary New Edition Hardcover – 6 Sept. 2018

I’ve bought this book for my son but having had a quick look I was vey impressed. It covers all the original Star Wars movies as well as the prequels. Rogue one and Solo is briefly covered and two of the latest movies - the only one not yet included yet is The Rise of Skywalker. Maybe this will be in the near future? It certainly makes sense to buy this than the individual film books which are included here.

Bought for an eight year old’s birthday and he loves it. He’s totally absorbed in the wealth of information the book provides.

An excellent, up to date book covering all aspects of Star Wars with superb illustrations.

Price f on Amazon is worse then a yo-yo. Less then £15 when I first saw it then jumps to £21 then drops to £13 now back to £21. Watch before you buy and try to get a lower price get new edition of the visual dictionary.

This is a massive and beautifully-presented Star Wars encyclopaedia, covering most aspects of the movies up to the current point (with Star Wars very actively in production, I imagine there will need to be further revisions to this book over coming years, which is probably good news for DK's profits). The approach is pretty thorough and overall the book feels like a blockbuster version of DK's various movie-specific guides in recent years.The writing talent involved, in particular Pablo Hidalgo, are either part of Lucasfilm's creative department or have written extensively within the Star Wars universe, and their attention to detail and affection for the series and its details really shines through. Initially I viewed the book as a glossy flick-through, entertaining for an hour. But what a misjudgement - the volume is packed with facts and information, making it almost a must-read.For all you can learn about Star Wars from a book, it will only attract a large enough audience if it's a delight to read through. The Complete Visual Dictionary can sometimes seem a little jumbled-up in its page design, but you can't fault how much there is to digest and there is so much to marvel at in the sumptuous photography. It really is a lovely book to own.For the money, if you are a Star Wars fan, this is a no-brainer and an essential purchase.

This book has lots of photos of characters, creatures and equipment from the Star Wars films. The book is divided into three parts. Part one covers the prequel trilogy era, part two covers the original trilogy and part three covers the sequel era. There were many unexpected photos, particularly of equipment. There is even a cutaway of the Sarlacc creature and photos of Boba Fett's jetpack and his other tools.This book is very much a visual dictionary with any information written in brief captions. The information given will probably be of more use to the casual fan rather than masters of Star Wars lore. I was only able to find one photo of Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo but DK publish a book devoted to that film as well. As more Star Wars films are released there will be need for another visual dictionary, but as a work for reference this should be in every Star Wars fan's library.

This is a huge and heavy tome which provides a pretty much exhaustive reference of all things Star Wars. Every character, small or large, that I could think of I was able to find. The book is also up to date (at the time of writing) so even includes characters from the recent "Solo" movie. It also includes the "in between" films so Rogue One is also represented. It doesn't cover the Clone Wars animated series but that would probably be a book unto itself!Not only are the characters shown but there is a wealth of information about them too including their various weapons and accessories (who know half of these things had names?). There is also information about the various spaceships and planets in the SW universe.There's an index in the back should you wish to look anything up in particular,As ever with a DK publication, everything is clearly and beautifully presented and the pages feel good quality and the the hard cover is nicely padded.At £30 this isn't cheap, but once you see it I feel the cost is justifiable. A lot of work has gone into, not just compiling this information, but presenting it in a fun and colourful way.This is a perfect gift book for any big Star Wars fan, young or old. Kids in particular I can imaging poring through the pages and indexing all the information in their sponge like minds!This is a great book, beautifully presented and absolutely bursting with content!

This is a real treat for Star Wars fans, 350 pages packed with photos, summaries, background information etc on main characters, secondary characters, weapons, ships and equipment. It covers the Prequel Trilogy, The Original Trilogy and the Sequels, pretty much up to date. The book is large and heavy, but impressive, and very nicely put together. I have yet to find a subject or a character not covered, and there is an index at the front, and a more comprehensive alphabetical index at the backI have seen a number of Star Wars "visual dictionaries" before, but this is easily among the best, if not the best. I imagine (and hope) that the authors and DK books will continue to update this book/dictionary as the saga continues, but for now this is just fantastic.My sons and I are all huge Star Wars fans, so there is currently a struggle going on to see who gets the book! Looks like I am going to have to invest in another copy when it goes on sale, and maybe additional copies for friends and family who are also fans.At £30 it isn't cheap, but you certainly get an awful lot for your money. I thought I knew a fair amount about Star Wars, but this dictionary is constantly surprising me, and adding to my knowledge.An amazing addition to any Star Wars fans' collection, and a wonderful gift too. I cannot recommend this book enough.

This book is full of beautiful photography from the original trilogy, prequels and sequels as well as some other tv shows and movies surrounding these eras. Wonderful read!
