love this pen!
i’m really picky when it comes to pens. i use this pen nearly everyday and i love it. ability to be refilled are something i always look for in a pen because if you’re using a pen frequently, it’s bound to run out of ink. the shape & color are wonderful and i love that it’s made of metal because i know it’ll last a long time. i was hesitant about the price at first but trust me - it’s completely worth it. if you also have high standards for pens, this is definitely the one for you!

but they always get replaced with another just like the old one
I've used these pens for the last 35 - 40 years. I found the first one in a home we'd bought, kept it and used it and have been using 'em ever since. Some I lose, some get broken or crushed on the job, some just disappear, but they always get replaced with another just like the old one. I say "just like" but actually I do vary the colors -- I guess I get moody sometimes. I have four sons and it's become their go-to pen also. I only wish Caran D'ache made mechanical pencils that used .09 lead, because then I'd use them too. Anyway, the pens write smooth, fit great in a shirt pocket or a hip pocket in my jeans, and the mechanics hold up under pretty hard use. I like them.

Great Ballpoint
I was skeptical about buying because I prefer larger diameter pens in general. This one however is so well balanced it is becoming my favorite. The clip may be the best I've seen. The cartridge is probably the smoothest ballpoint I've used. This is just a great ballpoint pen, would recommend over a Jotter or Sentinel.

Great ballpoint
I really like the Goliath refills. They write as good as any ballpoint, but have a very large ink reservoir. I'm a fountain pen user, so I only use this for work, but it still gets plenty of use. The construction is top notch. I love that the click is very quiet and soft.- - -Update 10/6/2016I've been using this for 2 1/2 years now. It's the only pen I use at work. I still haven't replaced the ink cartridge. I bought a refill about a year in, thinking it might need it any day. That refill is still in a box and I don't know where. This pen just keeps going.

Impressive
It writes smoothly and reliably with the occasional slight smudging. I don't think its styling is going to impress others who see me use it, especially with the clip which makes it look like an engineer's pencil, but the bright red color and sleek shape do impress me.I do think that its slender tapered shape makes it harder for me to use for very long since my fingers slide down the pen after a while but it's my current favorite pen anyway.

All in all a solid product.
Great pen. I like how it mimics the feel of old-school pencils. I wanted a red pen for review comments. The only quibble with the pen is that it came with black instead of red ink, which was easily replaced with a separately purchased red cartage. All in all a solid product. A word of warning is that, like old-school pencils, these pens run on the narrow side if you have large hands.

My favorite pens
Between my wife and I we have six of these pens in various colors and use them every single day. They write great, the cartridges last a long time and they are durable. And I really like how they feel in my hand, it's like a heavier #2 pencil.

So Bloomberg had recommended this pen as a graduation gift
So Bloomberg had recommended this pen as a graduation gift. It writes well but I don't think its worth the money. A pilot pen works just as well and if you loose it, you didn't spend much money. As an update, my daughter loves this pen, she says it writes smoothly and is comfortable to hold. I am increasing my stars

Smart & vibrant red
Smart & vibrant red, easy to grip the pen barrel (unlike the really shiny ones where my fingers slip down it). Pen barrel has become discoloured with some blue ink which is difficult to wipe/wash off, which is disappointing. However, these 849 style pens are my goto pen of choice (got a yellow one too).

Very Nice Pen
Bright this as a gift for a friend, she loved it. Just be aware that it only comes in a clear plastic bag, so no presentation box! Caran d'Ache is a great brand with nicely designed, smooth writing pens.

Lovely. Doesn't write red.
If, like me, you want an excellent pen for writing in red, you will need to buy a Caran D'Asche red refill. Lovely pen though.
