Purchase for 1 Gbps Internet connection
We just upgraded from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps Internet at my office. Rather than replace our old Firewall, which supports 1 Gbps but does not have optical ports, we purchases a switch to handle the incoming optical connection and used this for our connection. It worked great and saved us money at the same time!

Nice surprise no problems what so ever
When I purchased these I thought it would be worth the risk to substitute the Netgear brand for these. Nice surprise no problems what so ever. I have since purchased a total of 8 and saved a bundle.

Not Compatible with Cisco or Other Brands
We purchased NetGear Prosafe switches and these fiber modules. The fiber modules work fine but are NOT COMPATIBLE at all with Cisco or any other brand of fiber module. Your switch will only be able to communciate with another switch that has this same module. We will not use these anymore.

Product was as described - must use Netgear one in Netgaer switches as other GBICs might not fit correctly or lock into place properly
