Galgun 2 - Nintendo Switch

Pleasantly surprised!
Let's go ahead and get a couple of things out of the way: I have never played a game quite like this before, nor am I an avid fan of manga/anime. I mainly picked up Gal*Gun 2 because I enjoy rail-shooters and, admittedly, I was a bit curious about the 'M' rating attached to this particular title. As an adult gamer, I'm glad that Nintendo is supporting 'M' rated games on the Switch, so I'm happy to encourage them to continue doing so at every opportunity. As for the game itself, well...I initially didn't feel like I was the target audience for this sort of game. Honestly, I'm probably old enough to be a parent of said target audience. I figured that G*G2 would appeal primarily to younger males, especially those fortunate enough to just sneak past the lower end of the ESRB rated age requirement. Having now played several hours of the game, I'm fully convinced that I was correct in my initial assessment. The bit I wasn't expecting is how much fun I'm having with the game despite myself. The pubescent male in me (yes, you still have that even in your forties if you're lucky) is practically squealing with glee over this game.If you enjoy rail-shooters, interactive novels, or dating sims, you're going to have to be fairly prudish to not find G*G2 an irresistibly adorable and worthwhile gaming experience. There is no nudity in the game to speak of, but there's definitely some pretty high-level innuendo, suggestive themes, and general naughtiness at play. Despite the negative connotations typically associated with this type of game in a post-Gamergate world, I don't find the characters in G*G2 to be oversexualized in the least. Even the most risqué content is presented in a way that doesn't feel at all perverse to me. It's just... well, cute. Kawaii, as the kids say. Of course, this is just a matter of personal perspective. I still wouldn't let my 14 year-old play it. Hehe. The shooting works well, especially with gyro-aiming controls that you can set to be either always on, or only when you zoom in on your target. I find the latter works best, as the analog aiming can feel more sluggish than I like in a rail-shooter. Regardless, with just a bit of practice you'll be head-shotting those nasty demon-possessed schoolgirls in no time. Speaking of the girls, there's a nice variety of them to assault you and even the occasional teacher gets in on the action! The character art and animations are great, and the sound design is solid. I thought I'd get tired of anime girls shouting at me in their native tongue after an hour or so, but I'm still loving every minute of it. All of the dialogue is presented in subtitled Japanese, but the translation has been excellent thus far and the various interactions you'll have with the main characters are more lively and fun because of it. I somehow don't think this formula would've worked with English voice-overs. The game is very Japanese (culturally speaking), and that's how it's meant to be enjoyed!Alongside the main story, there are secrets to find and unlockables to... unlock. There's also a score attack mode, and a Doki Doki mode for romancing your love interest, which lets you remind yourself exactly why you won't let your 14 year-old play G*G2; and just in case there are kids (or stuffy grown-ups) in your immediate vicinity, there's a handy "Panic Mode" that effectively conceals the game from prying eyes and makes it look like you're playing just another one of those dime-a-dozen retro 16-bit JRPG's. Brilliant. While the important debate among gamers and game creators over the objectification of women in the medium rages on, it's nice to remember that boys think girls are cute, and sometimes boys can be naughty, and that's perfectly okay as long as nobody's getting hurt; and while the naughty bits of G*G2 remain the big draw here, it is nevertheless a competent and enjoyable (if not particularly challenging) rail-shooter, and a worthy addition to the Switch's library.

A disappointing sequel but that's obvious as all sequels are usually bad.
Concerning the dealer, the person did an excellent job shipping this product quickly, I have no problems with them.Gal Gun 2 takes a much different approach to the game. Unlike the first one, you are no longer graded on your performance after each stage but rather you build up your score overtime, which is mildly disappointing as it takes away the feeling of accomplishment when you play through a stage. Beyond this, the game takes away the concept of moving stage as you now can select where you want to go at your own pace with no real downside such as being timed. The game itself replaces choices with just giving snacks to the girl, which is very easy to grind making the game pretty boring in that sense, while I approve of the disposal of the worthless stat building, the game itself makes it so you can easily get whatever ending you want with little effort beyond making a few choices and giving snacks to the character. The game got rid of doki doki mode during the fighting parts which I approve of whole heartedly as it slowed down the game and for the most part got rid of the minigames of touching characters which was also an annoying aspect of the game though it took away most gameplay by doing so and just focused on the shooting aspect. You are now given a luigi mansion vacccum cleaner and suck up mini demons for extra points which is alright, doesn't really make the game better and honestly it doesn't give you points when you use it on the girls when you strip them. They have a bomb mechanic but it is nearly impossible to pull off as you have to stare at a girl's face for about 5 seconds which by that time, you will be interrupted by an attack more than likely as well as miss out on points by just targeting girls normally. They got rid of the shop system for upgrades and instead you have to do missions to get upgrades which can be annoying as you have to take it to a person to upgrade it but if you finish that person's arc, the upgrade option disappears. However, the upgrades don't seem to offer much and the game is doable without them. They got rid of bosses which is annoying beyond one boss who is very predictable in pattern.Overall, I find this game to be disappointing and worse than Gal Gun 1 which was more fun to play. The main character acts way more like a creeper than gal gun 1 and the game overall leaves a bit of a dissatisfied feeling vs the first game. I wouldn't get this game to be honest if you are looking to relive the fun of the first game.

Pew Pew
Very competitive shooter. Call of Duty and Valorant need to watch their backs.

A sequel better than the first.
I like this game, but I will admit this game is for a certain type of gamer. I would recommend this title to anyone who thoroughly enjoys anime and all that it entails. This means taking a hit on graphics, a plot that is absolutely absurd, and gameplay that would be considered "just okay" by the uninitiated. For whatever reason, I get a hoot out of playing these types of games and this one did not disappoint. The gameplay is even better than the first one, I played that on PS4, and they managed to deepen the menu systems and overall gameplay. This is a rail shooter, for the most part, and I would say that this is a pretty decent one. I'm not sure it's worth the price they are asking, but I would suggest eventually acquiring this game somehow if you are a collector, the first one is shooting up in price.

Gal*Gun strikes back!
Gal*Gun 2 brings back its part ecchi, part dating sim, all humor game series back again. As per usual, you try to avoid the mobs of women with the pewpew gun to 'make them happy'. They added in a vaccum feature to suck up the demons, which makes the game a lot easier, but it does have a %, so you can't spam it. They also added motion controls. It only takes about a minute or two to get used to the controls, and then it is a lot easier to aim. The choices you make in the game reflect who you will end up with. Also, there is a lot of comedy choices to make, if you just want to get a good laugh. If you don't like fan-service-and if you can ignore it, the story is cute and there is a lot of funny moments.

Lindo juego
