I love this book. I am a very visual learner. This book had phenomenal ideas that had images to go with them. This was very helpful for me.I was a veteran 2nd grade teacher that was switched to Kindergarten and I was thrilled to get new and exciting ideas for a classroom of sweet five year olds!This book gives you detailed line by line advice and examples of what to do in each portion of the day. Kinders need very specific routines and this book outlines exquisitely what to do.If you are a new K teacher I would recommend getting this book early on so you can get an idea of the routines and methods you want to use to start the school year.I taught students with no prior schooling in the inner city and I credit an attendance routine I got from this book with helping them learn to recognize their names in one month! It is the image you see on the cover of the girl choosing her name on the chart.The best book on teaching K I could find and I read MANY. I highly recommend!Fantastic black lines are included at the end.

Lots of helpful ideas for new Kindergarten teachers. Because I purchased the Kindle version, I'll recreate some of the forms that are located in the back of the book rather than copying. This is an older book, but has good ideas. I'll be including technology in my class (interactive whiteboard programs, Starfall, etc) and other more up-to-date strategies.

I am beginning my first year teaching kindergarten this fall. I ordered several books, and this arrived first. I found it very practical and easy to read. I made it through the whole book before bed even though I only started it when I got home from work at 5. It is full of wonderful ideas that I cannot wait to implement. It has also dramatically decreased some of my anxiety about entering the classroom. It demonstrated that if you are appropriately prepared and organized you can be ready for just about anything!

I bought this book to gather more information about classroom management and didn't realize how much of an asset it would be. I like the format of the book and would recommend it to any teacher starting out in the field. I am currently a preschool teacher and there is good information that can be used for both young and older children. This book includes additional information such as pictures that you can copy and use for your classroom.

When I first started teaching, I did not know the first thing about setting up an early childhood classroom for "bity kids". This book takes you from the home visits to the end of the year in showing how to do it in a real-life way, not in some theoretical way that springs from college textbooks.I especially liked the part on home visits. Check it out!

I thought this would be filled with new strategies, but didn't find anything I didn't already know (after teaching for 30+ years). I think it would be great for a beginning teacher!

I'm looking forward to implementing some of these routines in my Kindergarten class next year. I am really interested in trying "news of the day."

Use this book all the time. Love the ideas. Very effective!

This book is brillant and full of ideas. Far more than what I have seen in any classrooms I have attended.I look forward to putting many of the ideas to use.
