PERFECT SOLUTION - RV DREAM
If you are an RV'r looking for a cheap easy way to get high quality television. I purchased this unit and a Dish TV VIP211k receiver, activated them through Dish and literally plugged in the Tailgater, select the state you are in and let it find your satellites. It takes about 3 minutes to locate the satellites, then another 7-8 minutes to download the full TV guide. This thing is flawless. I have used it all across the south, Texas to the tip of Florida. I bought a 50ft metal security cable and a 50ft coaxial so I can move this thing wherever there is an opening.I also recommend spending the $20 on the "Dish Pointer" app for your phone to instantly know where you need to have an opening for access. You can spend $300 on this or you can blow $2000 on a mounted dish that can't be moved.Go with the Tailgater, I love it.

Would not work at Stadium
The VuQube worked great at home, but when we took it to the stadium, it was not strong enough to produce the picture. We had a Direct TV tech next to us at the game and he couldn't get it to produce the picture. Had a good signal, but could bring in the picture. His dish was doing find, and we just watched his TV. Easy to hook up and transport but wasn't for our location. Be sure to push the scan button, which the don't tell you in the instructions to have the receiver lock in on the satellite.

BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD
We've been RVing for about 10 years. Went through a dish on a tripod, on the roof, and Motosat. This little cube works the best, hands down. So simple, even a cave man could do it ! All you have to do is give it a clear south view and know what State you are in....This thing has become balky in it's start-up. I give myself 1/2 hour for it to 1) show the option screen 2) do a signal check 3) acquire signal 4) download programming. This is even though the cube is aimed at the same place before I turned-off the power. Once it completes its long start-up cycle, it is good in maintaining the signal. I reduced the rating to three stars because of the aggravation.

Easy Setup-Great reception
We are current dish subscribers and sports fans. We also love to get out in our travel trailer. We had discussed purchasing some type of antenna to take with us. I then discovered the Tailgater on Dish networks web site. We used it the first time a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it a lot. We had some thunderstorms the weekend we were out and only lost our signal during the heaviest of cloud cover. Of course placemnt of the Tailgater is important and a clear view of the south is necessary to receive all sat signals. We were surrounded by very large pines at Wind Creek State Park in Alabama and were still able to get most of the signals. We got 110 and 119 all of the time. Sat 129 is a little more to the southwest and was harder to find. This was purely due to location and had nothing to do with the ability of the antenna receive signals. I had set it up in my back yard prior to heading to the park and received all of the sats just fine. My only complaint, as stated by another reviewer are the security loops. They are very fragile and one of mine broke. A cable (available at most home imporvement or hardware stores) looped through the handle worked just fine though. Also, you can pick the unit up when you are going to be away from your site for a long time and put it in your camper or even the trunk or your care. All in All it is a great product and I believe a great imporvemnt over the higher priced products and the manual alignment products. I highly recommend it.

Was never able to find Satellite Signal
I had to return this item because I was never able to find the signal. I purchased this item to use when in my RV. Contacted Dish network and Tailgater, and was told to have my receiver VIP2llK upgraded at a satellite distributor shop. Had that done, and brought it back and after putting in all necessary information, was still never able to find the signal. Was very disappointed.

Great Product for Tailgaters
My family wanted to become more serious about tailgating & decided to buy a generator so we could watch other games on tv while waiting for our team to play. I researched portable satellites & came across this item from Dish Network in which I was already a customer. I was a little leary of this product since it was only just released in July of this year & there were no reviews for it. May I just say, we love it. It is lightweight and super easy to set up. We took it out of the box, hooked up the receiver and the television and were watching college football games within minutes. It is so easy to use. It finds the satellites for you so you don't need a compass or listen to signal strengths. Just set it with an unobstructed view of southern sky & it will do the rest. I can't tell you how many fellow tailgaters stopped by to see what this thing was on top of our vehicle. Everyone was quite impressed. I would recommend this product. The only concern I would have is it is only compatible with one type of Dish receiver. You must make sure it is the right one or you will have to purchase this receiver.

Spend the money
We bought a carry out, manual point dish. Waste of time and money. Never was able to get it to locate the satellites. Probably user error. Bought the Tailgater....NICE!! Plug it in, get a clear view of the satellites and instant TV. No complaints.Make it easy on yourself and get the dishpointer app. I think it's about $19.00. Quickly shows you where the satellites are making it easy to locate a site for the tailgater that have clear line of sight to the satellites. You have to call DISH and tell them where you are. They change the location of your account enabling you to get your channels. However, if you are recording TV shows at your house you will be out of luck. Your local channels will be changed at your house to the location where you are camping which means nothing will record. This happened to us.Getting the tailgater set up while camping is fairly quick. Once the satellites are found you will see several progress screens on your TV while it is loading. We had to call DISH a couple of times at first and they were very helpful and stayed on the phone during the process.
