Stop the Exploytation
I am saddened by what I read in this book. It raises the awareness of how greed plays a huge part in the destruction of cultures. It touched my heart and because of it I will raise my voice to those who will listen. Big governments need to STOP exploiting smaller countries. Hawaii belongs to the Hawaiians. Not the tourist and the companies that took advantage of these innocent and trusting people. We need to return their soverienty back to them, give them back their lands and let them run their country. Read this book if you truly care about a culture in distress.

A sort of post card survey of the decimation of the Hawaiian people after contact with the Americans and W. Europeans. Sad.
This is a quick and easy sort of sneak peak into Hawaiian decimation over bout 150 years but a rather superficial overview that left me wanting more. There is a documentary movie that will certainly fill me in in greater depth. Now, for the time to watch it? Therein lies the challenge! This little companion book does provide some very cool old photos of early post-contact Hawaii and for that, it's a keeper.

Heart-wrenching
This little book has genuine footage of post-contact Hawai'i and focuses on its disastrous consequences for Hawaiian lives. Immensely tragic and immensely important for anyone interested in the history of Hawai'i

Hawaiians and their lives taken away.
This little gem is a true representation of native Hawaiian people who had their land, culture, and way of living taken from them by missionaries and those who morphed into controlling businessmen.

Then There Were None
This is a great book to consider if you are new to the Hawaiian Islands. It is a short read that will give you a perspective on the people and the culture that is rooted in Hawaii. The knowledge that this book contains have given me more sensibility to the people that have been a part of this magnificent culture.MLS

A little preachy but descriptive of the plight of so many cultures overwhelmed by outside forces: disease, overthrow, and subjugation.
