Holds system settings between sessions. Also brings up last session mix when you boot up and if you don’t need to adjust mixer levels you can perform immediately. No idea what battery it uses.

Q: What is the depth of the Ui24R, meaning how deep would a rack bag or case need to be?

Rack mountable (19") and at least 6inches deep

Q: Can i delay one or two of the aux outputs? also, does anyone know if this is a step up in sound quality from the ui16?

The UI24R has a delay function on the AUX outputs that can be set to whatever you want, which is why the UI24 is a quantum leap from the UI16
