Got this for our 13 lb cat. We live in Phoenix with very low humidity and high temperatures and it is vitally important that animals have water available. This is an excellent size for a small animal and works very well. You definitely have to make the corners of the water container snap on to prevent leaking, but I really like that the whole end snaps off for easier cleaning.

Preface: We had a different manufacturer's model waterer, and the plastic water bottle literally self-destructed after 3-4 years of mild use. We contacted the company, and instead of supporting their product, they implied we or our pet damaged it...so, that sent us searching for a new company.We got both the 1.5 and the 3.0 liter units...and have been using them for two months now, and are very pleased so far.They are very nice looking, and easy to clean & replenish. I have verified with the company that they are BPA-free; I have also asked a follow-up question as to whether they contain Microban (which I'd prefer to avoid exposing my pets to), and once I get an answer, I will post that as well with an edit. (The previous model we had did contain Microban...the manufacturer actually claimed it as a beneficial feature...but I've read enough about the chemical to make me wary about allowing it to come in contact with our pets' food and water).The science is pretty smart, too: the bottle can be opened from the bottom for easy cleaning, and the seal does not need to be airtight, since the seam is immersed in the water (if it were at the top, then there would be a problem, but they obviously thought that through!)

Purchased this to keep water readily avail be for the strays/ferrals I feed. Seems like it will get the job done, a bit flimsy but looks like it will be easy to clean. For the price point, I have no complaints.

I purchased one of these to try it out. I have two cats and it seems like I am forever refilling their water dish because they've gotten food in it or it just gets dust/dirt/hair in it. I hoped this would allow me a little less time refilling since only a small amount of water would be open at one time and I could just skim out whatever had gotten into the water. Good in theory but the water release valve isn't very strong so instead of only letting water out, if it gets bumped, the water can flow back into the tank also. It's not a very expensive product to start with so I'm sure the valve is also very cheaply made.Aside from that, which probably wouldn't be a problem in a house without two rambunctious cats and two year old, it is very hard to secure the base of the tank so that you can flip it over into the dish. I am always afraid that I haven't quite gotten it on and when I flip it I will just spill the tank full of water all over the floor. (It has happened more than once) I think this is mostly due to the flimsy nature of the plastic used for this product.If you are purchasing this for a multi-cat house I would also recommend buying one per cat. Keep in mind it is only a 1.5 liter tank which means smaller than a 2 liter bottle of soda. Silly to say it, I know, but I had to remind myself when I opened the box because it looks very small. Also, this is best used on a hard surface floor. Carpet makes it uneven and more prone to spills since the plastic is so pliable.

I read many reviews that complained about how awkward this is to close after refilling. I found that to be true, but the way it opens also allows it to be the absolute easiest to clean of any waterer I've used before. On balance, I think I'm willing to live with the awkward lid if the alternative is the hard to clean models. I use this for my dwarf rabbit and it works well for him.

Too small to really do much good. Plus my cats did not like the still water. I purchased the Drinkwell fountain, for a little bit higher cost, but find that the water stays much cleaner running though the filter and the fountain. The cats also like the fountain better, it encourages them to drink more. I upgraded because my male cat developed a bladder infection from not drinking enough water out of this little one. Defiantly worth the small investment to upgrade to the Drinkwell!!

Works OKA way too hard to use (snap on cap is difficult)And very small and shallow, I think our cat likes a deeper bowlReturned it as wife with arthritis could not use it.

I love it!! Our pet is never without water now, especially now that it is summer. Hot days are especially hard on him as he is a Pomeranian and has quite a lot of thick hair. With this auto waterer he always has access to the water.

brilliant, I went on hol mon-fri and my kitty was kept in water while I was away. did the job great stuff. also no worries about batteries/power cuts ect as it is a gravity feeder, so no batt needed, I also bought the feeder
