This is a quality box of kindling, and it came nice and dry and ready to go. Honestly, I'm a novice with this stuff, so I wasn't sure when to use this in the fire-building process. It does catch quicker than logs, but you have to start the fire with even smaller sticks/papers. I burned through this relatively quickly, so for me it isn't worth the cost at $18/box at the time of this review, but it did still work fine and seemed to burn relatively clean.

Very happy to get a box of nice hardwood for the fire pit. I know a lot of the options out there are pine, which can be a bit crackly but this is good solid hardwood. Most of the box I got was larger blocks that run the length of the box and are maybe 2" wide by 3/4 thick. Looks like a good chunk of it is nice dense maple. They filled the top fraction of an inch with smaller kindling pieces which are great for getting a fire started. Basically, no space left unfilled so you're getting your money's worth out of this one.With the length of the wood being probably 10" (didn't have my tape handy, sorry) these are going to be a bit large for a table top firepit. Likely you'd need to cut them in half for one of those. Might make good cooking wood as long as you're not picky about species... Didn't see anything in there that I wouldn't put in a pizza oven.
