ABOUT Berry Bros. & Rudd With two Royal Warrants, over 300 years of history and six Masters of Wine, Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain's original wine and spirits merchant. Still run by members of the Berry Bros. & Rudd families, we believe that everything you should look for in a wine or spirit comes down to one simple question: "Is it good to drink?" DESCRIPTION OF THE WINE The aspiration here was to create the perfect sibling to the Berry Bros. & Rudd Own Selection "UKC" (United Kingdom Cuvee), which is sourced from Mainly Grand Cru. Historically UKC has inclined towards rich and elegant styles of wine from the Montagne de Reims, favouring, albeit marginally, the Pinot over the Chardonnay grapes in the blend. The illustrious Reims house of Palmer has, on every level, satisfied these rigorous criteria with our Merchant's Range bottling. WINEMAKING NOTES This cuvee includes 34 percent reserve wine, from the 2011 and '12 vintages which has been aged in stainless steel vats. Triage took place in 2014. The first (alcoholic) fermentation was in stainless steel vat, with the second fermentation in bottle. The wine then spent 36 months maturing in Palmer's chalky cellars, 18 metres below ground. The dosage is 9 g/l.
