Give it a try !!
I don't have autism but I wanted to know more about the diet. I have used and continue to use quite a few of the recipes. They are easy and tasty.

Not a great book for a cookbook
Not really what I expected. I was hoping more of a cookbook.

This book is a waste of money, time, and effort
So I failed to spot any reviews since I was just browsing through book options and saw this title. I thought, well, a recipe book sure would be nice. I forgot that self-publishing exists, I guess, and once I opened it to read I was utterly disappointed. I have done some cursory research on the internet about GAPS, but I want to point out issues that I have that have nothing to do with "knowing" the GAPS diet.1. No proof reading/editing. There are so many typos in the Kindle version of this book. SO MANY. It distracts from the content. There's that many.2. The first three chapters are an easy, conversational-tone reading. It is obvious these are Lynda's own words and they are easy to follow. Beyond that, though, she doesn't dig very deeply into autism at all for a book with the word "Autism" in the title. She kind of sums up "Hey peeps, Autism exists, and we can fix it with GAPS." But just about everywhere online says that now that autism is a hot new thing to be diagnosed with.3. There's 100% conflict in the information presented. Under "Phase 1", it insists you can eat 'pancakes' made from bananas and eggs - except later in the phases, it says "You can now add eggs to your diet." It also has a nut bread recipe, which is a late stage food according to the (I'm pretty sure) plagiarized information found for stage 6. These contradictions are enormous and plentiful. It feels like this author just found some recipes online, written by other people, and slapped them into the book without even editing the ingredients list to be remotely GAPS friendly. I seriously disbelieve that the GAPS diet proposes using cold-pressed olive oil to fry anything, ever, because it has such a low smoke point.4. I'm pretty convinced that this book is partially plagiarized. It goes from a conversational-tone writing piece and suddenly turns around with throwing out the phrase "the patient." It becomes short and clipped and the conversational side of it is completely gone. I'm pretty sure that's either because Ms. Warwick did not spend enough time rewriting the ideas of Dr. Natasha into her own words or because she just stole content from other books out there. Which, by the way, is unethical... to say the least.5. Some recipes aren't actually recipes, which is okay but it should be located at the beginning of the recipes section in order to indicate the method or template one can follow to create dishes. However, the likelihood of anyone who is experienced at cooking to actually need this information is very low, and really what anyone reading this book is looking for: the list of ingredients they can use in each phase, recipes to use in each phase.6. The buzz words are undoubtedly there to sell this book and make a quick buck, but I certainly hope this book is rewritten by the author after reading her criticisms.7. Most of the recipes omit important information, even if you are not following the GAPS diet. I was reading one recipe out of curiousity and it completely left out the step of preparing the chicken that was part of the meal. Oops.8. There is no "Thanks for reading my book, I hope it helps you" sort of finish to the book, leaving the reader hanging. I got to the end of it just so I could complete this review in confidence. So to sum it all up:Misinformation, bad writing, potential plagiarism of Dr. Natasha, potential plagiarism of internet recipe authors.

Average book and recipes
I was a bit confused by this book as the author says things like " fruit must not be eaten with meals and only consumed away from other foods" but then gives lots of recipes with meat, veges and fruit in the same recipe

Statement by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride, creator of The GAPS Diet and author of Gut & Psychology Syndrome GAPS
I have now had the opportunity to read this book by buying a copy and I have some major concerns about itβs content. The book is full of incorrect information. The author uses ingredients and foods not allowed on the GAPS diet, such as sugar, flour, starchy beans, vegetable oils and others. Implementing the GAPS Introduction Diet she recommends foods not allowed on different stages of the diet. For these reasons I cannot recommend this book even though she has credited me for my work and my book Gut & Psychology Syndrome GAPS. It is important that those considering buying this book are aware that they do so of their own choice and do not assume that I have approved itβs content.

disappointing and very a poor format - 1 page per recipe is what you would expect of a recipe book, not titles on one page and the recipe on the next!, and AMERICAN - so the irritation of cups sizes and cilantro rather than coriander etc etc. Not only that this book implies that this is a 6-week programme, which is not the case at all and has a recipe including quinoa, which is on the GAPS recommended food list.

WARNING DO NOT BUY
This book is full of misleading inaccurate advice which is not consistent in any way with the dietary advice given by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride in Gut and Psychology Syndrome, the real GAPS diet book. Please do not waste your money buying this book. Your child and family will not heal following the advice given by Lynda Warwick in this book. The advice not GAPS legal and could damage your family's health.

Don't buy this book
Argh so annoyed. This book is useless. It has foods that are not allowed in the recipes, it's badly written, has typos all over it and as a horrible format. I just logged in to leave this comment and I see the few others before me saying the same. So annoyed!Get the 'The Heal Your Gut Cookbook' by Hillary Boynton instead.
