The listing says it's foam, which it is. But it really isn't the ideal material to use for pipe insulation, so I'm not sure why it's marketed as such. You really want the closed cell foam that you find in the sticks of pipe insulation. This stuff is too thin and porous to function well as an insulator. I got this tape for a completely different purpose, but i still wanted to address this since it's primarily being marketed for pipe insulation.

I bought this to insulate pic pipe on my outdoor pool pump. The tape was very sticky and went on good and seemed to be a solution for upcoming freeze expected. The freeze came the next week and two days later noticed tape was unsticking, now stuck with using another tape to tape insulation tape I bought. I would have returned except would have had to unwrap to send back, not worth hassle. Tape was very sticky and thought it was my answer to possible freezing pipes, very disappointed. Good price but if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Adhesion was good good value for price

This is the first time to use this and we are very pleased. It made wrapping our pipes for freezing weather so much easier than other methods we have tried.

Have not used it to date. Keeping it handy for future use.

MY initial impression of this is that the adhesive is nice and strong. When contouring around fittings and such, it stayed put without much effort. Make sure you have it positioned how you like it because it wont' be easy to move once stuck. Easy to cut with a utility blade and a nice dense foam that ought to provide protection from the cold. I'm happy with this and would use it again.
