I love this bag. This is my second purchase. My first purchase lasted me probably 10 years. There's nothing wrong with that bag except that the drink holders on the side are all stretched out at this point. That's really the only reason why I needed to buy a new one. This is extremely lightweight and compact. That is a pro for obvious reasons, but on the cons it doesn't provide a lot of stability or support. Objects that are placed inside the bag sit oddly inside, and the shoulder straps are so paper thin that it does create soreness if using this for real travel. I took my bag to Japan for 2 weeks and yes my shoulders were sore. That's said, I still think it's a good choice for travel and I wouldn't hesitate to get the larger bag for more practicality and use.

I have been using a similar backpack for many years on occasions when being lightweight and foldable are more important than being able to carry 20lb. It holds food for lunch, 2 water bottles and a warm jacket - and takes no space when I am trying to fit all my staff ino a "personal item" on a plane. It is perfect for occasions when you do not know in advance whether you'll need it or not. It also works nicely as a day pack on a backpacking trip.When my old backpack got stolen, I had a really hard time finding a replacement - everything was too big, heavy and not really foldable. Finally found this one, and am very happy with it.

Only used once so far. Was great for a day out with the grandchildren. Held all their snacks. Zippers seem secure an d pack is easy on. Your back

UPDATE: I used this as my main day bag on a 2.5 week trip to Denmark. It exceeded my expectations. This is a really solid bag! It's a bit bigger than the many packable daypacks I read about, made like a backpack but without the internal structure. It is voluminous yet lightweight, and the shoulder straps were comfortable. On returning home, after emptying the daypack, it easily fit back into the little bag that is designed as an integral part of the bag itself. The zippers are very good; the material is of high quality; the design is great and very well thought out with several compartments and hefty shoulder straps. I did not have much rain to test its water resistance, but since it's so outstanding in other ways, I can unreservedly give it 5 stars!

This is a sturdy, roomy backpack. A great value. I carry it for work and I can fit a tablet, portable printer, flashlights and all my person stuff inside. When it's delivered, it unfolds from a small zippered pouch (about the size of a cosmetic bag) into a full back pack. Nice to know if I ever want to carry it in a pocket, car or suitcase to have a bag "on the go". It looks good too!. And lightweight. My job furnishes a canvas backpack but I like this lightweight parachute material much better. It is deep also. Very stylish. It does have Eddie Bauer on the outside but it is very subtle. I am happy with my purchase.

Took it to several sites in Mexico and it worked like a charm every time, carrying enough without making me sweat. From rocks to sand to urban areas, it really worked well.I was worried about the lack of padding since it's a packable bag but actually it sits really close to your back so it doesn't drag on your shoulders. Just don't carry anything larger than a tablet in it.I always put a shirt or jacket in it to give it some structure otherwise your loose things like cameras will shuffle a lot.One downside is its quite a consumable product, I can see after one trip it has some scruffs especially on the bottom, of course it's ripstop so it kind of intentionally frays. Would have been great if they used a cordura on the bottom but I think for lightweight packability, the pack works as is.For Mexico, it would have actually made sense to get the colorful ones, the black actually stands out a bit as a tourist thing, not that it was a big deal.The one thing I recommend is Eddie Bauer improve this pack with internal pockets that sit higher in the back so you can balance the load, often it ended up all the stuff got jammed into the bottom and the pack was lopsided especially when setting it down on the ground. I recommend buying some kind of internal organizer for the pack.

This bag was purchased for the contents of our earthquake kit. I already had a similar one but now that we have a dog, I needed a bigger bag to add his food and bowls as well as small bags of water. I like all the pockets as well as the deep interior pocket to hide money and a list of contacts in case of emergency. The bag contains food and water for 6 days instead of the recommended 3 days.The bag is small but mighty as well as strong.
