Conquering the Physics GRE

Excellent Book
An excellent book for the Physics GRE. The problems within are a harder than what actually appears on the test but that isn't a bad thing. I scored an 830 (68th percentile) after working through the entire book and this opened the path to grad school. The only thing to consider is that sometime practice problems require equations or formulas not contained within the review sections. It also doesn't review certain topics, things like Dirac notation, in a very in depth manner. Therefore, if you are trying to use this book to learn things you missed as an undergrad it may be better going to books by Griffiths or Taylor.

I Came. I Saw. I Conquered.
"Conquering the Physics GRE" is not a task to be attempted by the faint-of-heart. What's more, ETS has designed this test to trick you into failing, even though you're a very sharp young scholar. This book provides an excellent "boot camp" for anyone studying for this grueling test. There are succinct explanations of all manner of concepts --- ideal to bring back foggy memories of problems once solved. And, of course, no Physics book is complete without a healthy helping of PROBLEMS to solve so you can test your skills!I'm a Physics Ph.D. student at a major public university in part thanks to this book. Need I say more?

same content as 2nd edition; definitely buy if you're planning on taking the PGRE!
Conquering the Physics GRE is really really helpful for preparing for the Physics GRE. I have found that the practice tests in the book are much more like the actual Physics GRE than the older ETS exams (the more recent ETS exams, 2001 and 2008, are a good match to the real thing). If you're planning on taking the Physics GRE, I 100% recommend buying this book.If you already have the 2nd edition and are wondering if you should buy the 3rd, don't buy it. As far as I can tell, there is almost no new content in the 3rd edition (the only change I've found so far is the addition of the more recent Nobel Prizes to the Specialized Topics section). All the practice tests are the same. They reduced the font size and spacing, and switched to a two-column format, so the book is much thinner now.

Great textbook with great intuition
Not just good for exam prep, for for reviewing physics in general. The intuition included and the knowledge distillation and structuring are great

Great GRE prep book
This book was great to prep for PGRE's. It is a giant guided practice test, with sections providing key lessons followed by about ten to twenty questions as follow up. There are many practice tests in the back, many which can provide a challenge compared with the ones floating around on the internet. Definitely helped me in prepping for exam.
