A must for the U.S. Army Vietnam war collection. Not perfect as I found items not listed / missing from the book but still recommended.

The best book on the US military in Viet Nam.

What a fascinating book this is! Even if you’re usually not interested in books about war and the military, this one is bound, at least in part, to interest any reader, because it’s about the equipment, clothing and accessories that the US military used in Vietnam. I must admit to skipping over the military hardware chapters, but I lingered on the uniform and accessories ones, for cumulatively this book gives a vivid picture of what it’s like to be a soldier – even down to the stationery, playing cards, books and magazines that are issued. There’s something for everyone here – I’m sure many men will love the weaponry chapters, for example, whilst women will probably concentrate on the more personal items. Lavishly illustrated and in full and generous detail, with a well-written and illuminating accompanying text, this painstakingly and thoroughly researched book is a cornucopia of interesting “stuff” about military life and I found much to intrigue and inform.

Very good as a catalogue of infantry gear in Viet Nam, not much of a pictorial history of the life of an infantry soldier in Viet Nam. Excellent reference for anyone modelling figures from the Viet Nam War Era.

This is an amazing compilation! One fantastic reference work! Its covers literally everything, just as it says it does. I suppose that my one criticism is the fact that it deals almost entirely with the US Army and all of its gear, equipment and life of an Army grunt in Nam. Solidly, about 99.5% of everything in this book is US Army. There are a small handfull of USAF items, and a couple of Navy knives, as well as some in country produced items. I think the author, while doing an incredible job of properly identifying and cataloging it all with proper descriptions, nomenclature, and wonderful full color photos, should have included the US Marine Corps counterparts, to show the differences between Army and Marine grunts. While most gear and uniforms were shared, there were a good number of USMC items that differed either somewhat or a great deal from their Army items. That being said, the book is a wonderful addition to the library. Buy this is you are into studying history, the military, Vietnam, re-enacting, or military scale modeling. Its a great book!!

It's hard to find a book with so much information about gear.It's worth every cent. I loved it!Congratulations to the author.
