Welcome to Junebug Farms!
There are some romantic lesfic authors whose books I buy, irrespective of reviews, as they rarely, if ever, let me down. Of the British authors, you can count on Kiki Archer, Clare Ashton, Clare Lydon and LT Smith. Of the American authors, I always buy Blayne Cooper, Lynn Galli, Melissa Brayden, Gerri Hill, Tracey Richardson … and Georgia Beers.Georgia Beers doesn’t let us down again in this, the start of a new series apparently. She introduces us to Junebug Farms, a no kill animal shelter for lost, abused and abandoned pets. Adorable Ashley is a volunteer there and complicated Lisa is the intake and adoption manager. There’s plenty to enjoy if you like stories of dogs and cats. In particular, the relationship Ashley develops with Jax, the Labrador/shepherd mix, is lovingly described. This is (as usual with Ms Beers) a pacey, enjoyable and 'just the right amount of sweetness' read. You care about her characters and want them to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. And there are plenty of those obstacles as Lisa has to let down the barriers she has erected around her heart, whilst Ashley has to stand up for what she wants.Ms Beers also introduces a number of new characters that you feel sure she’s going to explore further and bring to life in future books – boss Jessica, public relations person Anna and accountant Catherine all play for the same team! I also feel pretty sure we haven’t seen the last of Clark Breckenridge…unfortunately…!

Lovely, heartwarming romance
Yet another wonderful romance novel by the very talented Georgia Beers.Ashley is an almost 30 year old woman who has worked in a bakery since leaving school over 10 years earlier, but is a naturally passive person who has settled for a job that she actually enjoys, and in her spare time volunteers to help take rescued dogs for a walk at the nearby animal rescue Junebug Farms.Lisa is a 32 year old woman who is in charge of intake and adoption of animals at the Farms.Ashley is in a faltering relationship with a truly lovely girl, but there is no spark there for her. Lisa is single and struggling with her past, and fighting to stay single to protect herself. Their attraction is mutual, but Ashley must overcome her own nature while at the same time helping Lisa fight her own personal demons in order to make the relationship work.A beautifully written story with plenty of characters you will warm to (and one particular sleazeball you definitely won't!).I look forward to a future instalment when hopefully we will see the sweet Carly find someone who can truly love her the way she deserves to be loved. No violence, no bad language, and one incredibly steamy scene between our leading ladies (if that doesn't get your juices flowing nothing will!), this book is highly recommended. The only thing missing is a bit more humour, but then it wasn't really that kind of tale.

Cute
I don't usually go for a book series - I quite like things wrapped up in a little bow with a conclusion. However, this kind of blends the two. I have already read the 2nd book in the series, and I like it when characters are dropped in from previous books. I prefer the 2nd, this one is a little too cutsie for me (probably just the Ashley character) and the ending was far too abrupt. Do not let that stop you reading this - I want to visit this animal sanctuary! Nice to see some characters who are just kind of normal - not high powered, no major ambition etc

Romance between hard to like, emotions kept in check
Romance between hard to like, emotions kept in check, Lisa, and sugary sweet emotion lead Ashley. I wanted Ashley to break through the layers and win over Lisa. But I couldn’t get past Ashley’s treatment of Carly.I felt sorry for Carly, she was doing her best, and got cruelly dumped when Ashley found someone better. Lisa had an excuse for her behaviour. Asley’s sugar turned into a sour lemon for me.

Usual good Beers
If you expect some incredible twist or something like it you get disappointed. If however you want an easy typical Georgia beers read you are in luck and will enjoy it.
