Jackson Pollock’s Mural: The Transitional Moment

The book is beautiful, and the story is spectacular! I taught at the University of Iowa so my family, and I look forward to having our Pollock come home after being away for renovation. It was the centerpiece of our art museum collection until the Iowa River flooded in 2008. As water rose toward the museum, this $150 million mural was quickly loaded into a huge refrigerated truck and driven to Chicago for s torage. Thanks to the careful work of the Getty Museum, it has been beautifully restored, and it will return to Iowa later this year. This book tells in astouding detail the process of rescue and renovation.The book captures well the drama of its rescue and the painstaking work done by hundreds of people to return the mural to its original splendor.

An informative description of an art restoration project. One section on the technicalities of chemical paint analysis is probably beyond the interest of an average reader, but others--on the genesis and later history of this work--provide interesting reading for the general art audience.

Very comprehensive documentation.Showed detailed views of the work and was very derailed,with great coloration in reviewing the restoration process. thanks.
