Must buy for HCG customers
I waited some time before I concluded the deal but things happen once it arrived no turning back. This is the HCG bible and an essential part of success if you are thinking its an expense you are struggling to justify STOP this is the key to your success. I cannot praise this book enough and I am not that easy to please. I do not like to 'use'my books so photo copied all the to fill in pages so for me this book will never out date.

Diet cure guide is BRILLIANT!
I am on the 38th day of the 40 day (maximum days allowed are 40 at a time) HCG WEIGHT LOSS DIET CURE eating plan - and I could not have been as successful as I have been without the totally invaluable HCG WEIGHT LOSS CURE GUIDE - it is the perfect companion for doing this truly amazing diet CURE course. All the helpful hints and suggestions were a huge advantageous help since the HCG diet cure is so specific and in order to be successful at it one really needs this guide! I really cannot recommend this book highly enough as the perfect companion for the HCG Diet course.

Great book, very detailed.
This book contained essential info for following the HCG diet. I am currently having great success with it and personally know about 5 other people who have had incredible results. I would recommend this diet with this book as the instruction manual.

This works for the well-informed
I believe that weight loss is a journey. There are those who simply don't know enough about how their bodies work to complete this protocol. Please do some research. Those individuals may not feel comfortable with this approach. I, on the other hand, have read nutrition books by Dr. Barry Sears, Dr. Perricone and tons of others. I know that refined, processed foods wreak havoc in my body.I am very surprised by the negative reviews of Trudeau's book. Amazon's suggested tags have words like "fraud" although this book has mostly positive reviews. I have read Dr. Simeons' original manuscript and I'm currently taking HCG that I received from a licensed physician. IT WORKS! I feel great! I lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks. I've got 3 weeks to go. I would also recommend this book because it's more streamlined than Trudeau's. I think Trudeau's book is helpful because of the in-depth analysis of dangerous toxins in our body. It's not about weight loss but rather fat loss! I've lost inches and reshaped my body. I found a doctor that prescribes HCG in Aurora, IL. I live about 40 minutes away. I only had to see him twice. Once for a consultation and then for a two week follow-up. I know that everyone isn't comfortable with the idea of self-injections. Trust me...I'd take this over popping pills anytime. It's quick and painless. I took Phentermine years ago which is FDA approved. It was prescribed by my primary care physician. The experience is like night and day. I had insomnia, dry mouth, jitters, etc. It was awful and I loss the wrong type of fat. My face was drawn and I looked tired. I have had absolutely NO side effects with HCG!My HCG doctor was referred by a colonic therapist I found online. Colonics are important too but not necessary for success. The honest truth is that very few people can actually follow the 50+ suggestions in Phase 1 of Trudeau's book, but that's NOT the point. The point is to make some of the changes so you can live a healthier lifestyle AFTER losing weight on HCG. There are things I will absolutely NOT do since reading this book. For example, eating anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG or trans fat. I also ensure that I workout daily and don't eat out as much! Shopping at Whole Foods may be more expensive but the cost has been offset by preparing meals at home. One of the greatest benefits is that I'm no longer drinking alcohol and eating sugar. I would suggest that you Google sugar dangers.I don't understand how one can claim that a hormone (HCG is a hormone not drug) is dangerous in such a small dosage (it's actually used as a fertility treatment) and yet they poison their bodies with High Fructose corn syrup, trans fat and bovine injected into cows. Not to mention all the man-made chemicals in our food and toxins in our cleaning supplies. Dr. Simeons graduated Summa Cum Laude. He's brilliant! This is HIS protocol - not Trudeau's. This protocol simply builds on what I already knew - refined, processed foods are bad for you. If it doesn't come from a plant, animal or fish, your body doesn't need it.UPDATE 10/27/08- I wrote my initial review after 3 weeks of HCG injections. I have now completed Phase 2. I loss a total of 31 lbs and 9% body fat. I'm now into my second week of Phase 3. I must admit that Phase 3 (no sugar/no starch phase) is more difficult than Phase 2 because I'm not sure what to eat. I know not to eat sugar or starch but you're supposed to consume a minimum of 1500 calories and that's difficult for me because I'm not all that hungry and I am fearful of gaining weight. That said, I am going to follow the suggested menus in this book and begin daily exercise. Having the HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide is crucial for completing Phase 3 of this protocol because it's easy to follow with eating guidelines and food journals.I'm very pleased with the outcome thus far. I can finally fit all of my clothes. It's been an entire year since I last wore my favorite jeans. I plan on doing one more round of HCG just to give myself a buffer. I have to say that I really don't want to lose more weight but I'd love to lose a few more inches around my midsection. The great thing about HCG is that although I weigh 146 lbs, my clothes fit better than they did when I weighed 135 lbs last year.UPDATE 03/10/09- I just completed a second round of HCG. I lost 27 lbs. I would recommend that you do NOT start this protocol in September because you won't complete Phase 3 (the 2nd 3 weeks) until the week of Thanksgiving. This was the mistake I made last fall and I gained weight during the Holiday season as a result. In addition, please adhere to the "Steak Day" if you gain more than 2 lbs in one day. I failed to do this. It's much better to complete this protocol early in the year so you can start Phase 3 when you're most active in the spring/summer (exercise is crucial). Actually, a great time to start is the month of January. As I've stated previously, Dr. Simeons' protocol works great for losing weight. I cannot say that it "resets" your metabolism. If you immediately start eating an abundance of highly refined, processed, inorganic foods, you will regain the weight. This is because of reasons explained in the metabolism books I recommend below. Times have changed dramatically since Dr. Simeons' days. I would suggest that you IMMEDIATELY start Phase 4 or some lifetime plan after completing Phase 3 (three weeks no sugar/starch, followed by three weeks low sugar/starch). Please follow the Phase 3 menus outlined in this book. They're great!! I was reluctant at first because I thought I would gain weight but I didn't. Peanut butter, apples and trail mix are quite yummy.If you start Phase 4 (your lifetime phase), you should immediately begin a weight training and cardio fitness regimen. This will help rebuild muscle. Don't go back to your old ways of eating! Our genes can't handle it. Try to prepare meals at home as much as possible. I know it's difficult because I love going out to eat. The problem is that you don't know how your meal is being prepared (or exactly what is being prepared). Not to mention the temptation of bread and alcohol. If you have reservations about Kevin Trudeau, then read the book "Ultra-Metabolism" by Dr. Mark Hyman. It basically states the same thing (with meal plans) - like the importance of whole foods, supplements, herbs and exercise (plus saunas) in maintaining a healthy weight. It's more scientific which is quite helpful as Trudeau spends a lot of time ranting (although understandably).If you follow the recommendations in "Ultra-Metabolism", you will have no problem maintaining your weight loss. I can't say the same thing about Trudeau's Phase 4 because it's not an actual meal plan. The nice thing about the HCG protocol is that you lose weight quickly so you are naturally motivated to maintain your new physique. There are tons of books on gluten-free and sugar-free desserts if you love sweets. Losing weight with HCG is the easy part. Maintenance is a different animal. I'm currently reading "The Raw Food Detox Diet" and "The Complete Beck Diet for Life". You really need a plan you can follow for life! I can't stress that enough. Whatever you decide, just make sure you can stick with it. I would also recommend Paul McKenna's book "I Can Make You Thin" because it teaches you how to think about food differently. The Beck Diet Solution also addresses emotional eating. Have a great spring and summer! Most of our challenges are emotional and until you deal with what's eating you, all the protocols, detox plans and recipes in the world won't help. Sorry for the delay, I didn't realize there were any comments for this review :-) Yes, I've maintained my weight just fine. My current profile pic is from my 20 year class reunion in 2009. I was the belle of the ball :-) I started the home exercise DVD collection by Beach Body in 2010. As a result, my continued maintenance has been a breeze. I would recommend two books for those who (like myself) have problems metabolizing carbohydrates: "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes and "Living Low Carb" by Jonny Bowden. These books have really reinforced what I learned long ago. I continually educate myself so I remember what it was like living with constant cravings, weight fluctuations and low energy. Please feel free to email me with any questions!Update 05/27/11....I can't believe the hit piece I just read about the HCG protocol on Yahoo. The diseasestablishment and Medical Industrial Complex must protect its interest! Obesity is big business! I would caution anyone considering "herbal" HCG due to its increased popularity. There is no "homeopathic" HCG..it's a hormone. I would also caution against programs and/or doctors who have modified Dr. Simeons' original protocol. I'm starting a blog soon because I want to do anything I can to help educate those considering this protocol. Eating according to your blood type on a go-forward basis will make all the difference!

Excellent resource to help you get through all phases
UPDATE: July 2015. After almost five years, I'm doing another round, but not because I gained my weight back. I kept my weight within 3-4 lbs. of my set weight since 2010. I'm doing it to lose my last 10 pounds. This book helped me lose 45 pounds and maintain my weight loss, and I'm using it again on this round.Here is my original review from 2010:This book is responsible for my being able to do all phases of the diet successfully and maintain 45 pounds of weight loss, which was my goal. It made me well informed on the diet. I've done a few rounds using the sublingual drops. I don't know what I would have done without this book. I referred to it over and over again during all phases of the diet.There is helpful info on the Very Low Calorie Diet phase (VLCD or 500 Cal phase), as well as the Maintenance phase (also known as Phase 3 or P3). There is an extensive food list of allowed foods for all phases of the diet, and Dr. Simeons's complete manuscript is in the back of the book.I have to comment on a couple of concerns some other reviewers had:1. Despite the fact that the organization of information and editing may not be as ideal as some of the reviewers here (and myself) would like, there is a TON of useful tips, information, and advice that can get you through this diet. There is information relating to the same thing in several areas of the book. So, you might find some maintenance (P3) tips in three or four different places. But the info is there. And it is extremeley helpful.The author is a pro at the diet, not at editing a book. Who cares? This book was written from her experiences in doing the diet and helping others do it, and her own research, and she wanted to share it with others. I have a bunch of post-it notes sticking out of this book for different things due to the fact that info is all over the place. It works for me and I'm just happy this book exists, because it got me through the diet.2. Someone mentioned that it didn't really lay out the diet days in a straightforward way and it's not for newbies. I agree that it could have been explained better to the uninformed. But I saw this book as a supplement to what I already knew. There is actually a "Summary of a Typical Round" on page 5. It talks about the 2 loading/gorging days and the rest of the diet. I actually didn't realize it was there until I saw the author's comment on someone else's post. It's nice to know that she definitely put it into the book.I did each round of my diet through a med spa that used patented sublingual drops. They provided instruction sheets about days 1 and 2 loading/gorging, the Very Low Calorie Diet (aka VLCD or 500 Cal) and the food list for VLCD, and a brief explanation of Maintenance (aka P3). I also read Dr. Simeons's manuscript beforehand--from a PDF that I downloaded for free on the web.Because I didn't buy the book as a newbie, it was a bonus of info for me. I can't comment about how I'd feel if I were reading this with no prior knowledge of the diet, but my guess is that it would be very valuable.Why I got this book:I bought this book toward the end of my first round of the very low calorie (VLCD) phase. I was worried about doing Phase 3 maintenance (3 weeks in which you can eat anything you want except sugars and starches). I obtained this book just before I started P3 maintenance and I have to tell you it prepared me for maintenance in such a great way.Because of the help in this book, I had no trouble with maintenance or maintaining my weight. It explained why P3 is so important. If anyone does the VLCD and doesn't properly do P3, they are wasting their time because their system probably won't reset at the new weight.This book has Simeons's manuscript in the back, so it's easy to flip to that and read it instead of having to go to your computer and find the PDF or read it online.The info on maintenance was most important to me. I lost the weight, but keeping it off and making sure my system reset at my new weight was what was going to keep me from gaining it back. I lost weight and maintained at that new weight with each round I did.I referred to this book through all rounds and all phases. It has tips about how to break a plateau and how to maximize your daily weight loss.There are tips on how to get through maintenance and the most common mistakes people make with P3 Maintenance (one mistake is not eating enough food on maintenance! And she explains why that is.).There are different ways to get the HCG and in various forms. Some people use sublingual drops, homeopathic drops, or injections. There is a lot of information on the injections and mixing this stuff yourself in the beginning of the book. Since I didn't need that info, I ignored those sections. It doesn't matter what form of HCG you're taking. The book will help you get through the phases with success.I highly recommend that one get a diet coach/buddy (a friend who has done it successfully, or do it through a place that knows how to administer the diet) instead of doing it on your own. It's nice to have someone to talk to about the diet as you're going through it. And in addition to the coaching/buddy, use this book.Maybe this isn't the perfect layout and editing job, but it is a great book that will help you get through the diet. I thank the author for putting all this together and sharing the info with us. Huge thanks!!!

Great book great condition
Book was in exceptional condition - almost new! Exceeded my expectation. Very informative book that helped me understand the entire process of gaining & losing weight. Very insightful book.

Wow, so much better than Kevin Trudeau!
Yes, I bought Kevin's book and it's very very thorough, don't get me wrong. It's a bit over the top, though. Let's face it, we're in the latter-days and there are LOTS of things we 'should' be doing but holy cow! This book, however, is soooo wonderful. I just loved the way the author was so down-to-earth and friendly and so real! Everything is laid out so nicely and she does NOT go in circles with every little thing. She's about the specifics of Dr. Simeons protocol not the evils of the world and all the conspiracy theories. It's straight-forward! Lots of great information for what you need to know for the HCG Protocol! Dr. Simeons manuscript is at the end of the book, as well. There are even directions on how to administer the injections! There are charts full of authorized foods & products, charts to help keep you on track and to track your progress and much more. Perfect book to read and have on-hand while preparing for and doing the HCG protocol.

Being on the HCG diet is a challenge as anyone whose done it knows. The more information the better. What I found was this book had a lot of information that Dr. Simeons original diet has in it. She reiterated that information quite a few times in the book. There were a fewgood ideas that helped. Not sure anyone really has this diet or an easy way to do it down pat. Bottom line is you can not cheat or deter from the original diet or you stall the diet and your progress. I did find parts helpful and reassuring at times just because I wanted to here more information.
