The best high quality shoes you can get
I now have five different pairs of Mephisto shoes, and yes I like them that much.

Not sure they're worth the dough.
Note: I'm comparing these to my most recent pair of Ecco Track 25 shoes.I got these thinking they'd be really comfortable and durable. I think they'll last practically forever, but I'm a little disappointed in the comfort.I have flat feet, so some cushioning on the soles is beneficial. They're less cushioned than the Eccos, and are quite hot. The Eccos are also hot, so that's not necessarily a fair complaint. But I think the Mephisto Henriks are hotter. The side zipper is really convenient. I leave 'em tied, then just zip to close! These shoes look kinda weird, but that kinda suits me, so it's okay. The most comfortable shoes I ever had were the long-discontinued Clark's Air Movers. I keep looking for something similar. These aren't it.Update, July 2023:I grew accustomed to these shoes after wearing them to a three-day conference in San Diego last summer. I really began to like these shoes and wore them every day for a year. The zippers started slipping down and not staying zipped up, then the right zipper failed completely. That's disappointing for a $400 pair of shoes—I could have spent a hundred bucks for shoes that crap out in a year. One possibility of redemption is that at least the more expensive Mephistos can be resoled and refurbished to varying degrees. It remains to be seen whether these shoes are worth the expense.

Weighty Sneaker
This is a very well made shoe, but be aware that it is quite heavy for a sneaker.

Duck Shoe & Zipper Failure
After one month of zipper failures, donating these bad shoes to the Salvation Army. Normally wear 10.5 shoe. Advertised large and ordered size 10. My $300+ shoe investment promptly arrived. Mephisto brochure recommended a loose fit and they were. Day one, right Zipper uncouples/separates. Made Temp fix. Everywhere I walked, was big shoe-conscious. Every other day, zipper popped open. Fool Enough ! DO NOT Buy.
