Good for finding issues, but....
I acquired this tool, to see how much could be accomplished WITHOUT an upgrade, subscription, providing personal information, using their servers to store and distribute test results, etc.I do not trust my personal information to any entity located in this part of the world. That includes a VIN, but certain diagnoses might not be possible without it.This scanner didn't seem as intuitive to use as others, but I am not a practiced professional mechanic. I WAS able to read the codes other scanners do and obtain insights for repairs.I have one caveat on using these devices from this part of the world with on board internet connection capability. At one time or another it can be necessary to download specific vehicle information, obtain subscriptions for full/extended use, firmware updates, etc.Be sure to secure your network by using a dedicated computer/router to isolate it from other devices on the network. Avoid unsecured connection. Avoid subscriptions if possible (even if for free) or any service that requires uploading personal information, although much of that will be given up once the VIN is supplied. If anyone asks me if I trust this stuff to guard privacy, the answer is an emphatic NO! If a subscription is used, pay with a single-use payment method if possible that masks your credit card and other personal info. In almost all cases a phone number will be required.CAVEAT EMPTOR.I expect this review to be updated from time to time.

Very comprehensive car scanning tool
honestly, its an exceptional diagnostic tool for car enthusiasts and professional mechanics alike. I mean for $399.99, it had better be good! lol. So, this full-system OBD2 scanner is packed with powerful features, making it a worthy investment especially for anyone looking to diagnose and maintain their vehicles effectively.1: it offers full system diagnostics, meaning it can access and analyze all of your car’s key systems, including the engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, body control, and more.2: one of the standout features is its bidirectional control capability. Which allows you to not only read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) but also perform action tests, like activating specific components in real-time, to pinpoint the issue more accurately. Whether you're testing a fuel pump, cooling fan, or other systems, the ability to send commands directly to the vehicle offers incredible diagnostic flexibility.3: this tool includes 28 reset functions, such as Oil Reset, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Reset, EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) Reset, and more.4: it also supports Flexible Data-rate, which is an advanced communication protocol used in newer vehicles. This ensures that the tool is compatible with a wide range of modern vehicles, allowing you to stay up-to-date with newer car models and their advanced systems.5: Despite being a highly advanced tool, the Thinkscan 672 is designed with user-friendliness in mind. The 4.3-inch color touchscreen display is bright, clear, and easy to navigate. The interface is intuitive, making it accessible to both experienced mechanics and beginners.6: another great feature of the Thinkscan 672 is the lifetime free software updates.7: The Thinkscan 672 is built to last, with a solid and durable construction that can withstand regular use in professional and DIY environments. It feels sturdy in the hand and is designed to hold up to wear and tear. The tool is lightweight enough to be portable, but rugged enough to handle daily use in a garage or workshop setting.8: at $399.99, the Thinkscan 672 offers excellent value for the level of functionality it provides. Compared to other professional-grade diagnostic tools, this scanner is reasonably priced, especially considering the range of features, bidirectional control, and the ability to handle both standard and advanced vehicle systems. The free lifetime updates further enhance its value, as many other scan tools require costly software updates after purchase.Overall, the THINKCAR Bidirectional Scan Tool Thinkscan 672 is an outstanding choice for both hobbyists and professionals who need a powerful, reliable, and user-friendly diagnostic tool. With full system diagnostics, bidirectional control, 28 reset functions, and CAN FD support, it offers everything you need to troubleshoot, maintain, and service vehicles efficiently. For $399.99, it’s a solid investment that will likely save you time and money in the long run.

This is a beast of a scan tool
This is not your typical scanner. This is a very powerful tool. And while it can certainly help you, it could also put you doing something that is a bit over your technical experience if you are not careful. If you only want to read codes, there is not a problem. If you want to reset them, you should only do so if you are certain no harm will come from that. If you are not certain, this tool will at least help you know what to expect before you take your vehicle to a garage. There is a built in user manual and it is a very good idea to read it before you connect this and use it on your vehicle. If you do get into the deeper abilities of this tool, you really need to know what you are doing. It can calibrate injectors and such that most simple scanners can not do. Many cheap scanners will only scan and do not offer bidirectional use even to clear codes.Being a DIYer and not a mechanic, I have to be careful not to get in over my head. I strongly advise that just because this (or any other scanner) says that part "A" is bad, you need to know your own abilities to replace that part before you just dive in. Some jobs require more than just a 10mm socket...specialty tool requirements may put everything on hold and add an unexpected expense. And while I do not recommend clearing a code just because you can (if you are not certain of what you are doing). But if you do that anyway and the code comes back, that means you should probably take it serious. This is the most powerful scanner that I own (of 3). There is a learning curve, but much of that is understanding what many of the systems truly are and how/if they relate to your vehicle problem. The more experience you have with scanners, the better results you will get with this unit. But I can not express enough the importance of being sure you educate yourself about what a button does before you press it. This tool can actually cause things to move in/on your vehicle...so think it through. So far, I have not found any part of my vehicle this tool will not diagnose as long as the manufacture of the vehicles computer will allow such. For example, in my 2003 GMC truck, I can use this tool to verify the side mirror motors function (this unit will actually control those mirrors). But it will not control the door lock or power window of the same vehicle. So the vehicle computer must allow those functions as well. That said, I do have an electrical problem with this vehicle. It is possible that those commands would be available if the system were operating correctly. This is part of why I got this unit, and it has helped me narrow some of the issue down. This scanner does not "see" those motors, so it could be that there is an electrical disconnect that is the issue. When weather permits, I will continue working on that truck.Other scanners I have will not help me with ABS or TPMS systems...this one does that and more. And I will say that this one scans a bit faster than the others on newer vehicles. However, it sometime is slow to react to the press of a button. If you press something on the display and nothing happens, give it 10-15 seconds before you go pressing another one. Sometimes, but not always...it seems slow to respond.I like this very much and hope to learn more of how to use it myself. Education is key to any such tool. But lack thereof will certainly limit its usefulness, and may even make it harmful.
