Oboe Method (Kalmus Edition)

The clean editing, the spiral binding - this is the must-have edition for all oboists. As a university oboe professor, I have all my incoming students start with this!

I bought this book on the recommendation of my teacher, one of the top oboists in Boston. The melodic etudes are actually fun to play. The finger exercises are sheer torture, which is kind of the point. They did prompt me to ask, however, if my teacher garroted squirrels as a child.

This version of Barret is great because it's spiral bound, so you don't have to worry about the pages staying open. It's the same as the classic version in every other way. Must have for a budding oboe player.

This is your go to oboe methods/étude book! Also get Feeling studies for after these! These are still good to come back to! Love, love, LOVE!!!

Fantastic method book. One of the best I've ever owned. While other books like the Gheckler are quite impressive as well, the Berret gives fantastic directions on how not only to play the notes written in the book but also how to perform the music illustrated on the very same page. Fantastic buy and the spiral bound spine is out of this world.

Needed for anyone who is a serious student of the oboe.

This is a must if you are an oboe player.
