A book of highest quality from the Natural History Museum that describes 10 natural history expeditions that took place between 1687 and 1876.Each journey has about 30 pages devoted to it with an excellent text and multiple illustrations of plannts and animals that were found in the far corners of the world including Jamaica,Ceylon,Surinam,North America,Australia and Amazonia.All the illustrations come from the archives of the museum- atruely remarkable book.

This book will suit someone looking for a collection of natural history drawings and stories as well as some one encouraged by travelling and discovering terra incognita. I bought one for myself and afterwards another one as a present for my friend.

A really lovely reference book!

This book is an excellent and concise introduction natural history, exploration and discovery.It contains many fine color prints of the botanical, ornithological and zoological illustrations made by the artists brought to record the experience.This book is also a fine read.I highly recommend it.
