Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar

This reads like a Latin version of the Great Gatsby although it largely ignores the plight of the thousands if not millions who suffered at the hands of Escobar and his peers all over the world. A fascinating read, it could be a novel just as well given so few were privy to this level of excess.

While Virginia Vallejo did lead an interesting life she definitely did not forget to write about anything in this book, whether it needed to be in it or not. But there was a lot of interesting parts too so I couldn't bring myself to give it less than 3 stars but I couldn't bring myself to give it more either.

I really liked this book even though she was pretty full of herself but she has some good stories and I couldn’t put it down. After watching narcos it was a good read and I would definitely recommend you read it.

Gives new perspective on the narco, but found the author a bit narcissistic and she would have done a better job telling the story in a straight forward manner rather than presenting a twisted version where she tries to portray herself as a victim to protect her image

My girlfriend failed in love with this book

Interesting read. I fear for her having written this and hoping my buying it was the correct thing to do. Interesting psychological study of a fringe part of society.

So far still reading. Well written so far.

Book is very hard to follow. It jumps from topic to topic and most of the time I am wondering - what is the point, and there is none most of the time. The book is focused and making sure that we know the the main character is " educated, elegant, always wearing a designer close, hangs out with elite and has aristocratic background" rather then understanding the era of Pablo Esocobar. I had to go back several times just to understand time line. It is very surprising to me that this women is or ever was a journalist given that she cannot tell a story

Je ne comprends rien a la politique, a tous ces organismes militaires... Heureusement la série narcos m'a permis de comprendre certains passages du livre. Je l'avais acheté car j'ai aimé la série. Je me suis forcée a finir le livre.

Effectivement fascinant mais malheureusement très mal écrit ou très mal traduit. Du coup difficile à lire et c’est dommage. Un document très intéressant au demeurant.
