Can't wait for the next big trip
On those long road trips, it would be nice to keep drinks and food cold and safe. Even just on a hot day. I have coolers that are insulated boxes or bags which stay cool with ice packs. That only works for so long. I had been thinking of a car refrigerator like this one for some time. The 16 quart capacity turns out to be quite useful. It is wider than plain 16 quart coolers due to the compressor at the side. That makes the weight a little lopsided when empty. However, the weight while empty is surprisingly light.I first tried plugging into the 120v wall socket with the supplied power adapter. The temperature went from 64 degrees to 37 within 30 minutes with the standard fast cooling. There is very little noise from the compressor. I did notice that the temperature would fluctuate between 37 and 44. It seems that it does not stay at a set temperature but within a range. Therefore, when using this, it is probably best to set the temperature to at least the lowest that is preferred for the food inside. Even after it is off, the compartment stays cool for some time.I also plugged it into the 12v cigarette lighter socket in the car. The cord is very long so it is possible to put the refrigerator in the trunk while using the socket inside. That is if the car does not have a socket in the trunk. One potential issue is that the 12v socket needs to be powered continuously if you want the food cooled constantly. Most 12v sockets will shut off when the car is shut off. It is also compatible with DC 24v and AC 240v.Of course, there's an app for it! I haven't tried it yet. It would seem to be most useful if you need to change the settings frequently. With only a few buttons, changing settings can be irritating. For the most part, i will just keep the temperature set for fresh food and drinks. Maybe i should take up fishing.

Fridge really cools very well
This refrigerator/freezer cooled down from 78 degrees to minus four degrees in about 50 minutes. It operated very quietly and the compressor side of the unit only warmed up a small amount. It weighs in at about 18 pounds and sports 4 latches on its sides so you can secure the unit with straps if you choose. The cooling chamber is not huge but you can see from the attached photo a gallon of milk fits on its side easily. There was still a reasonable amount of space left to fit a few packs of meat, perhaps a quart of creamer and a few other items. We live in a hot climate so we need something to move cold products such as milk or ice cream from the store to home. The manufacturer provided hookups for two power sources-a car lighter socket and a regular mains plug. The control panel is simple and is explained decently in the user manual so I won’t go through it all here. I will, however, note something that took me a few moments to fully understand (b/c the manual did not clearly state it). There are two cooling modes: HH for very powerful cooling and eco for energy saving. To enter the HH mode you have to press the up arrow and the on/off button simultaneously. The directions do not state that you must keep depressing the two buttons until the HH appears in the screen. To enter the eco mode you merely press the down arrow after the HH appears to enter the eco mode. There is also a car battery protection circuit that is activated by pressing the on/off switch simultaneously with the down arrow as above until the battery lines appear in the windows. You press the up or down buttons until you select high, medium or low battery usage. I did not test this mode because it is designed primarily to preserve external power sources at a campsite. We will not use it for that purpose. You can also download an app to control this unit with your phone-that may or may not appeal to you. I did not add the app to my phone because we won’t use the phone to control this simple device and I already control our dishwasher, AC unit, generator, car and about twenty other items from my phone. I just don’t need another app. Not for this unit anyway.Overall, this is a nice unit which I will pre-cool in the house about an hour before we leave to go to the store. I will simply unplug it from the mains, put it in the trunk and plug it into the car. It will provide a really nice bridge for our cold products from store to house. This is recommended.

Sturdy, quiet, AC & car battery powered, temperature LED, big enough for perishable items
Portable cooler with options for car battery power or AC power. Both seem to work fine, although you have to consider how much it will warm up when the car is not running and supplying power to the cooler. We have a long-cab truck we use for camping and the cooler fits comfortably on the back seat of the extra cab and still reaches the power port (it's a two-piece cord so it's fairly long). It might also be possible to run the cord into the truck bed through the dividing window (haven't tried yet).Good for getting perishables to their destination and also as an extra soft drink or beer cooler when you stock up for a party. It seems well built, is very quiet compared to our other cooler, and shows the temperature cycling within about a 5-degree range. Setting the temp is a bit confusing at first, so read the docs.It came with a gift of three cute fridge magnets.Concerns:Our other cooler is tall and narrow and easy to lift. It does both heat and cold. This cooler is low and wide and the handles don't stick out very far. It's heavy when it's fully loaded and you have to squat far to reach the handles in a safe squat to lift. In other words, it may be hard for some people to lift. It does have four slots for adding carrying straps and that might help, but haven't tried it yet.So, both our coolers have pros and cons. This one seems efficient and, as mentioned, is much quieter. I think the handles could be improved to make it safer to lift when fully loaded. With a coupon this is in the same price range as our other cooler. Can't give 4.5 stars, so I settled on 4 but it's sturdy and does the job well.
