So I bought both this and the easy piano version
I am an older adult piano student with about a decade of experience, but not much confidence. So I bought both this and the easy piano version. I was delighted to find that the pieces in this book are mostly within my skill level, or a good but not impossible challenge. Because my hands are small and I have arthritis, my teacher showed me how to modify chords and fingerings to accommodate my limitations, and with these changes, I find I can enjoy all the pieces I have worked on.I prefer this version to the easy piano one. The key signatures, ornamentation, and harmonies are more interesting and rich-sounding. Although they are more complex, they are not necessarily more difficult. And who wants to play everything in the same key, anyway?

Great Product, but NOT FOR BEGINNERS!
So not did this come in on time, it also inspired me to start playing piano again. I love it! It's freakishly hard to play, though, so I must advise all to be careful when you buy this. Unless you have been taking piano lessons for more than seven years, this book is not for your average piano enthusiast. I was a little bummed that they didn't have ALL the harmonies for Misty Mountains, but I wasn't expecting the Elvish and Dwarvish lyrics. It's great! Brings me back to my choir days!

There and Back Again...with Music!
Fans of the Lord of the Rings will (hopefully) be at least somewhat familiar with Howard Shore's powerful musical score. Around ten years later, he returned to score The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. While he borrowed some music from the previous trilogy (I was so glad he did!), most of it is brand new music. So here is my list of pros and cons... PROS:*Includes 14 songs ("My Dear Frodo" "Old Friends" "An Unexpected Party" "Axe or Sword?" "Misty Mountains" "The Adventure Begins" "Radagast the Brown" "Warg-scouts" "A Good Omen" "Song of the Lonely Mountain" "Dreaming of Bag End" "A Very Respectable Hobbit" "Erebor" and "The Dwarf Lords" Out of these, "My Dear Frodo" "Old Friends" and "A Very Respectable Hobbit" include music from the previous trilogy*Includes a personal note from composer Howard Shore*Includes 6 pages of colored photos and 1 black-and-white photo*Music is easy enough to enjoy right away, but hard enough to prove a challenge*Includes nearly every song from the film CONS:*Although I paid $15-$16 for this, the list price is $20. I would not pay $20 unless you are a big fan of The Hobbit, Tolkien's works, or Howard Shore.*A couple of the songs, though good songs, are not as iconic and enjoyable as the others ("Axe or Sword?" and "The Dward Lords" are great to play, but not as great as the other 12 songs...) If you are a fan of the movies, a fan of Howard Shore, or enjoy movie soundtrack music, I would recommend this for you. If you are a beginner at piano, you will want to look for the less expensive book arranged by Dan Coates (this has less songs, though).

Excellent arrangment for solo piano!
I bought this book after seeing the movie and after playing the Lord of the Rings trilogy piano collection. This is definitely NOT a book for beginning piano players, as the chords are often very difficult. However, it is an excellent collection of songs for intermediate-advanced pianists. The chords and melodies make you feel like you're a part of the movie. Great arrangements, and a good purchase. The only thing this book was lacking was the main fighting theme for the dwarves (the Misty Mountain song but the fight-scene arrangement). Maybe that will be included in the books for the next two movies.

Beautiful music!
Howard Shore, once again, came through with excellent music to complement Peter Jackson's film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth tales. It is exciting to have the sheet music and have the opportunity to play it. It is a bit sad that the Eagle song isn't included. Still, the rest of the music is definitely worth having. It was a nice touch that Howard Shore wrote a personal note to those who would be playing his music.

Can't resist it!
I already love all the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings movies and really enjoy sitting down and playing the music I've heard in the movies. I also teach 40+ high school students in my home, 4 days a week. Many of them play classical piano and when class is over for the day, they are constantly sitting down at my baby grand piano and playing music out of this book (I just "happen" to have this book sitting on my piano all the time). It's a pleasure both playing the music and seeing my students enjoying it, too! Thank you!

My daughter loves it!
I bought this for my daughter, and she loves it! It was her favorite Christmas present. It is a little above her skill level, but it is challenging her to work hard. It is a good collection of songs from the movie.

Good piano music
I have loved the Lord of the Rings Piano solos and so anticipated I would like these just as much. The music is still very good, and the pieces are fun and challenging to play, but the music itself hasn't quite impacted me the way the LOTR music has. This is the main reason for the 4 out of 5 stars. If you love the music and listen to it over and over (as I do with LOTR music) you will likely love this book. That said, the thing I really like about this book is that there are a few songs that have several pages of music, rather than overly truncated versions of the songs. The arrangements themselves are done very well and the songs are still very enjoyable to play. These two things, plus the amount of music (80+ pages) are the reasons I bought this book. The music is really good, and I look forward to enjoying it as I listen and play it more.

Partituras Imprescindibles

Wonderful Music for Piano
The Hobbit Sheet Music contains the tracks: "My Dear Frodo", "Old Friends", "An Unexpected Party", "Axe or Sword?", "Misty Mountains", "The Adventure Begins", "Radagast the Brown", "Warg-scouts", "A Good Omen", "Song of the Lonely Mountain", "Dreaming of Bag-end", "A Very Respectable Hobbit", "Erebor" and "The Dwarf Lords".Some titles are less difficult to play than others, yet this is nothing for beginners. If it is well-played, however, you will be rewarded with some wonderful music. The titles sound almost like the soundtrack. If you can sing (or if you are alone in the room) you can use the vocal instructions.I can recommend this Sheet Music to all who like to play the piano and had lessons for several years. Moreover it would be no disadvantage if you liked the Hobbit and knew (and liked) the soundtrack.
