Beethoven: Piano Concertos 1-5

It is good to have these recordings available again in the collection replicating what was issued back in 1968. I wish that Warner had used the cardboard box format instead of plastic... The sound of Gilels / Szell / Cleveland Orchestra is far superior to what we had on the Angel LPs way back when - one had to find the EMI imports for decent sound in those days.

Beethoven's magnificent Piano Concertos interpreted by Mr. Gilels, my favorite is #1, and the stellar maestro, George Szell conducting the Cleveland Orchestra of the 1960s and 1970s. This is musicality at its finest. This collection rekindles wonderful listening memories of the Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Maestro Szell recorded on LPs.

I was very pleased with the speed with which I received the product. The recordings were well done and performances excellent.

I love these recordings , they are lovely recordings. all five of those Piano Concertos are beautiful.

Very good recording - of course with Emil Gilels and George Szell being among the best at the piano and the podium respectively. Arguably, Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto - "The Emperor Concerto" - is the best and most popular of the 5.

I have others, this might be my favorite, as is Gilels' recordings of the "name" sonatas

So happy to come across Emile Gilel’s performance of Beethoven’s piano concertos. Even though it was recorded in 1968, his sensitive piano playing has not been surpassed (to my ears).

Brilliant. The sound quality on this is wonderful given it's age. If you are reading this you are probably already a fan of Gilels. If you are not you should listen to this set of CD's. I am pretty sure that you will be a fan of this wonderful pianist after doing so.
